Speculations Yamato's role in the story

Just listened to Merphy Napier's analysis video on the most recent chapters and it was kind of weird how she went from praising how heartfelt Robin's Wano scenes were in Robin going from a scared girl surrounded by tragedy to a strong woman, and just glossed over Yamato with a sort of passive approval of her possibly joining, even though Yamato had also been through tragedy in her past like people getting killed for bring nice to her.

Haters gonna hate

I suppose the recent Road to Laugh Tale further lends to the possibility of Yamato becoming logkeeper. I had thought of brewer because of Chapter 999, but her voicing a desire to write a log in the concept art gives me the idea that it could be stated in the final version of the manga as well. Rather weird the actual manga has yet to mention it though.

Their interest in logs and writing has been consistent, the journal was there for a reason, and served as inspiration for over 20 years for them. So it's a response for all "but Yamato has no role" "the biggest party of the journey is behind" - well, Oden joined the pirates in Wano as well, it didn't impede him from writing his journal.

I just never got the feeling that Yamato was actually interest in logs beyond Oden’s. The concept art makes it a lot more clear for me than the final manga.

That much is true. I overall was glad to see so much going in the sketches, it means that Oda gave Yamato a lot of thought before introducing them to the story :amazing:

I also wonder if we will see Nami-Yamato duo work on the map of the world complemented with stories of the islands :optimistic:

The fact that Yamato making a choice to stay for now to help protect Momo and the others after he failed to handle an admiral and Blackbeard storming into an island to get a power he feels he can get away with are featured in the same chapter leads me to suspect there’s set-up being done for Yamato’s choice to backfire on her. Could also lead into whereas Oden didn’t ask for Marco and the other Whitebeard Pirates’ help back then, Yamato would be different in asking for help and the Whitebeard Pirates helping out then, perhaps even to the extent of helping protect Wano instead of Yamato. Luffy’s flag protection + Vista, Jozu, and the others helping protect Wano from the inside should be enough to satisfy Yamato to leave Wano with no worry, so I’m definitely interested in seeing where this goes.

Yamato is going to be the next captain of the kuja pirates

Hancock needs to leave amazon lily to prevent it from being invaded. She says she wants to be with Luffy. Wano is Luffy's territory and is safe from invaders.
Hancock goes to amazon lily. Ultimately, Hancock wants to quit being a pirate and marry Luffy. Therefore, she makes Yamato captain and decides to wait in wano until Luffy returns so that she can marry him.
