Speculations Yamato's role in the story

So yeah whats the purpose of yamato and what is his role in wano and afterwards?
Oda introduced him pretty suddenly and late into the arc too which makes it kinda weird

As of chapter 1059, I can say he will be representative of SHP for Wano. Guardian of history of Wano and its Poneglyphs. Maybe later he will join SHP in final journey.
