Most One Piece parents took the phrase "love your kids with reckless abandon" too wrong/literally!
There's quite a recurring theme of abusive and neglectful parents in one piece, parental to child abuse and abandonment.
The writers barely disguised issues lol.

There is at least one thing for which I am very grateful to Banchina. She did not impose her opinion on Usopp, but at the same time tried to make sure that the boy had a positive impression of his father. She understood that she was going to die soon, and Usopp needed to be on good terms with his father, because otherwise he would be left all alone in this world. In addition, it was important that Usopp did not feel abandoned. Perhaps she understood the truth, or perhaps she sincerely believed in Yasopp. But she is definitely one of the best mothers because she really thought about her boy's future.
