Because it took like 200 chapters to finally get to Kaido and it makes 0 sense for anyone but Luffy to beat him. Also, Kaido is stronger than Mihawk so even powerscaling wise it made no sense.

It´s not the CHAMPS fault that Scrambeard, Big Meme, Crydo, Shiki, Gayleigh and Gabum refused to help out their boy. They simply didnt want to mess around with the CHAMP and his best friend Sommers.

Given the fact that Imu controlled Gunko is obviously stronger than Luffy to everybody but Sanjikun, why are people assuming that the other two will be any different? Sommers being stronger then Sanji is just obvious, there´s just no reason for Oda to have scrubs be the first proper wings fight in half a decade.

I'd also add Brook in there for psychological damage that could weaken imu's hold on gunko.

Their struggle, especially sanji have to be that overcome their regen since he hasnt awakend coc yet

Calling characters bums is not an argument lol. And Somemrs losing to Ray/Gaban isn´t proof he´s weaker then current Sanji, since he would lose to those 2 as well.

With the exception of FMI and some early pre ts/post ts stuff, Oda usually tries keeping the fights in these major arcs pretty close, especially since Elbaf is probably one of the last proper arcs before the final war.
