Is this intentional by oda?

Zoro knocked out the Giraffe soul within the devil fruit. This applies the cutting only what one wishes to cut concept.
The same thing applies to Ifrit Jambe maybe. Maybe the blue flame is a soul destroyer ability as well. I think Sanji's blue flame is from the Lunarian lineage factor flames, but imbued with ACoC.

I'm so confused. He went white eyed. Which is a sign of being knocked out. Even if temporarily. Then he woke up and had that convo

Then in the middle of handing zoro the key he collapses again.

Whether or not he was Unconscious during or after the attack shouldn't matter. He was in the end unconscious and defeated.

I think the definition of knocked out is a little different here. I understand knocked out as in boxing/MMA etc. If you are knocked out there you don't have a conversation and then lie back down.

I see the white eyes thing as a temporary stun effect. Luffy vs Lucci (EL) is an example of a knock out for me.

But you maybe right, Zoro had a similar fight against Mr.1 and Ryuma corpse where his opponents collapsed after saying a few lines.

Wasn't zoro knocked out after mihawk slashed his back open?

I believe there was a short convo in between

There are many examples in op where an opponent says a few lines before passing out.

There's plenty of examples of only temporary knockouts.

I think the general message tho is that zoan revert indicates complete and utter defeat

Zoans revert back to base if Oda wants them to, there's no science behind it.
Queen was no different than Kaku, he was exhausted from being massacred by Marco and later oneshotted by King but he was still conscious after the IJ combo.

What about big mom vs queen? I posted the panel above of his knockout. Did he revert after that panel while still unconcious?

Was Queen knocked out when BM two shot him? I personally don't think so (might have to reread though).

Maybe but seems too complex and a lot of reaching.

Reread the original post. I provided a panel of queen when knocked out vs big mom. He is still not in base.

It's happened only 3 times in the manga. Kaku and queen. And then kaido when he hit the magma.
