Sanji putting his pride aside and donning he suit for the convenience of the alliance and the people he was protecting was nice. Then when he notices it's changing him, he puts his values and humanity above strength and decides he'll have to make due with his unreliable but human self and he accomplishes his task of defeating Queen, rescuing his new mouse friend and protecting Osome.

Pre-timeskip, Sanji came to understand the limits people were putting themselves for their dreams through Luffy and Zoro whilst he was kinda stagnating in accomplishing his dream of travelling for the sake of gaining Zeff's acknowledgement and paying him back for all he's done. At Enies Lobby, we see Sanji hesitant to leaves things to other in regards to the Kalifa situation despite being there to save a friend who needs their help and isn't capable of solving things alone. Essentially by trusting Nami and getting rid of the part of his chivalry that prevented him from leaving the procuring of Kalifa's key to Nami, he ceases to be as much of a hypocrite which flows better when he gives similar advice to an Usopp who truly needed it.

Zoro's development pre-timeskip was quite nice. He went from being willing to cut down Luffy if he stood in the way of his dream to sacrificing himself over Luffy in an authentic way over a decent chunk of time and arcs and through seeing Luffy persevere and be someone he could owe his life to. That's not all but that was the main part I appreciated. Bowing to Mihawk was also fitting for his character arc even if it changed how the inevitable battle may be written. Post-timeskip, he's just there to be the reliable and capable swordsman and he carries that out well but I wouldn't say he's developed a whole lot since the timeskip.

Luffy's main development came after the Summit War Saga after countless losses to stronger foes and the loss of his brother, him being firm and deciding to take a break from travel for his crew to get stronger was a smart move. Sadly he wasn't wiser in the longrun but it was understandable, he trained to gain strength so he wouldn't feel helpless again so post-timeskip, he isn't in the mindset to run too often since he and his crew are capable enough to stand up to most crews in the New World.

Both Luffy and Zoro serve their purposes as characters just fine even if they are, at times, static. They interact with others and Luffy especially, helps others develop, as he takes on obstacles and meets villains that contrast with him and challenge his desires. Zoro meets people standing in the way of his goal for greatness and for making Luffy's dreams come true and he's constantly pushing himself to improve so even if he doesn't develop a lot, he doesn't have to.

maybe because her character already has developed? :goatasure: a good character doesn't need to be changing all the time along the way, even if i agree that i expected more from robin in post ts

also it's no joke that some guy on reddit said that WG is the biggest zoro stan hivemind lol
Imo, pre-timeskip Robin is better written than post. Which you can say the same for other Strawhats.
