that last bit i have never heard tbh, and i did have to catch penguins before for medical treatment

probably about the bursa gland, the secretion gives the feathers a water-repellent effect, but they can stil swim after you touch them

they also have alot of feathers that are very dense, even without that secretion the dense feathers create a layer of air between the cold water and their bodies. similar to otters
