I've been going down the rabbithole and the DS trilogy is peak show don't tell storytelling. The core theme of conflict between those who wish to preserve decaying legacy systems and those who wish to start a new (there's a really interesting Miyazaki interview from back in the lead up to the release of ashes of ariendel) can be felt in literally every aspect of the games.
