By the looks of it, it is the case...barrier haki is explained as something like hurting/punching without touching the person but in panels all Luffy did was same thing he did in 923 with new moves and old techniques like Rhino schnider which he didn't use in 923. And Oda didn't make it clear whether he was using or not expect for red roc...

He was most probably using advance haki. Its not like oda is drawing differentiating different haki in a good a way anyway.
