I feel like if you bring back Ulquiorra, he needs Kenpachi levels of screen time and that wouldn't of fit in with all the other characters moving around. I'd rather keep Ulquiorra dead then squeeze him in and be disappointed

It's not Kubo who wrote the novels, it's by a guy who wrote a few Bleach novels before Can't Fear Your Own world. To my knowledge Kubo helped with it and drew / doodled for the novels and the novels are canon.
