It's not Kubo who wrote the novels, it's by a guy who wrote a few Bleach novels before Can't Fear Your Own world. To my knowledge Kubo helped with it and drew / doodled for the novels and the novels are canon.

Final war had so many holes that the anime need to fix. I'm hopeful they don't just do a 1:1 adaptation.
