People need to realize Oda uses tension like that to measure the worth of someone's character. He wanted to show that Hyou was happy dying this way.

Not sure why anyone expects this manga to go the dark route at this point. After 20 years there's zero reason to assume it will

Well marco didn't use any named attack.....he could have used phoenix mark on akainu but used his talons.......

Even if it wasn't named, I assume that he used a pretty damn powerful attack against Akainu when he attacked him with Vista. I don't think here that the presence of the name makes any difference.

Ace had just died and they were enraged. It's logical to assume that he used a very powerful attack.

Akainu is a monster so it simply was ineffective.
