Questions & Mysteries How does one achieve WSS ?

HA001

World's Strongest Swordsman
#22
He "just" defeated the previous strongest swordsman. Thus any single swordsman he has not defeated on panel can be considered stronger than him until proven otherwise.
For the time being he is just stronger than Mr1 and not far from Vista
Did wb beat every man ? Can we consider dalton stronger cause theyve never fought.
Did kaido beat ever creature ? Is arlong stronger. Clown.

Then why big mom , rayleigh or roger , shanks never had the title dont have the title.

I get it they are not real swordsmen but a pirate. What differentiate them against mihawk ? If Shanks was able to compete mihawk one on one then whats the real worth with the title? Just asking?
Because Big Mom was never stronger than Mihawk, neither was Shanks.

As for Roger and Rayleigh, we honestly dont know much about that era to say whether somebody was considered the WSS or not.

One Piece folks were wondering why a solo guy like Mihawk was accepted into the warlord. In order to justify that status, World Government used his fight with Shanks(that he was actually losing) to create the fake propaganda that he was the WSS

But now that they decided the Shichibukais aren't needed anymore, they judged that it became useless to continue with that facade. That's why post-Shichibukai status Mihawk was reintroduced without WSS title under his mantel

He displayed feats and achievements that no other swordsman in OP during the present era had displayed. Thus, dubbed as the Strongest Swordsman.
I'd say it's pretty much this.

He likely has the greatest cutting feats in the manga bar none. Through his battles and swordsmanship feats word spread and he became known as the WSS.

This is why I believe someone like Fujitora would never have the right to that title in the first place, he focuses way too less on his actual swordsmanship when it comes to attacks, no matter how strong he is. Bringing meteors down isn't going to spread the legend of how great a swordsman you are. You need to do legendary things with the blade itself (Ryuma cutting a dragon).

Fujitora isn't a good example at all. The title is about being the strongest swordsman, not the greatest. In theory, you don't even have to be particularly skilled in swordsmanship to be the WSS, as long as you can still beat any other swordsman in a fight

This isn't boxing where you win a belt after you line up fighters 1v1. These titles are about your achievements and feats, hence doing "great" things enough so your name echos throughout the seas (like rumours).

Only real way for Fuji to gain that title would be to defeat Mihawk which is way too specific of a demand. He's not getting it by simply being strong. No one is going to see Fuji destroying an island with meteors and rubble and think "wow what insane swordsmanship". He will never be recognized without achieving great feats with his blade (AKA cutting feats).

All the legendary swordsman have something in common, they have legendary cutting feats. Imagine Oden using a gravity fruit to destroy the Mountain god? Or Ryuma using gravity to squash a Dragon, what a legendary swordsman squeezing the dragon under gravity...yeahhh..no.

STRONGEST swordsman: Real title created by Oda and given to Mihawk

Blind swordsman: Epithet given to Fujitora, by Oda

What definitions? Reading or using your brain must be real taxing for you I take it?

Remind me where I said Fujitora wasn't a swordsman or that Mihawk isn't called the strongest swordsman?

I'm talking about an in verse way of gaining a title (which is what the OP asked), and you're out here asshurt about some power ranking discussion.

Now that you have mentioned this
It actually makes sense why in Zoro Novel they were comparing their cutting skills
They mentioned how Mihawk cut the hcerbg, how law ...

Ryuma is known for cutting a dragon
Maybe Mihawj cut something huge + his famous battles with shanks 12+ years ago boosted him to be WSS

Is swordsman Fujitora not compatible with the WSS title?

If you actually read you would know I answered this already. It's possible for him since he's a swordsman, but his options in gaining such a title (simply being strong isn't enough) are much more limited due to what makes him impressive isn't his cutting ability something synonymous with being the strongest and/or greatest swordsman.

Zoro is hell bent on being able to cut anything, Mihawk has the best cutting feats in the manga, Ryuma is known for cutting a dragon, Oden known for cutting Kaidou and the Mountain god. This is an ongoing theme which is clear as day if you weren't so caught up in nonsense.

now you're gonna play it as the WSS means having the strongest slashes in the world...

IF Fujitora was able to BEAT Mihawk in a FIGHT, Oda would've made him the WSS.

Good question that should be asked

Why is Mihawk WSS even?

Like seriously based on facts :
He never won the score vs High tier Shanks
Never beat Vista
He didnt even beat/fight every top swordmen ( Databook is a joke since it claims that Mihakw fought every until there was none left) he met vista for the first time at MF.
He never been to Wano (no info yet)
Never fought any top tier swordman /fighter (no info yet)

I'm sure he never fought Fuji/Oden/Rayleigh

I'm seriously wondering how did He become WSS?
Was it because of black blade? Hm

I think my theory about him gaining was title due to being Warlord will turn out to be true lol

only because zoro needed a mentor and figure head for his dream, and people take world rummors at heart. liek some marines already think zoro is wss.
