Just let that sink that we got "offscreened" the HELL part, only to be brought back to a chapter where they decide to split them up and manage to do it in just 1 chapter (or half chapter, depending on how many pages we will waste with the mid scabbards).

Who said that I want this ? But what do you expect with Oda's writing of Big Mom and the Big Mom Pirates ?
There will never be a satisfying battle between her and her crew against Luffy and whoever is affiliated to the Straw Hats outside of the Tea Party and Enraged Army battle, they could have annihilated the alliance many times during WCI arc but each time were strongly handicapped by the plot. And it only continued in Wano, the waterfall issues, Big Mom's amnesia and this being perfext examples.
And I strongly suspect that Oda made Big Mom befriend Tama, a little starving girl of a starving country, during her amnesia period so the people of Wano can have lots of foods that they can't find immediatly in their devastated and polluted country once Wano arc is over.

Like I said, this is very much like 1007 with the "Oden" cliffhanger. Next chapter or the following will define how this cliffhanger is received. It has the potential to either be well received if the BMP return next chapter (at the expense of BM's competency but at least its not O-Lin), or straight up O-Lin BS and people absolutely hate it.
I'm a fan of the former and think its happening. Oda had the decency to leave it as a cliffhanger and not show her falling into the water here. That leave a lot of hope for something good to happen.
