That's you're own headcannon. Sanji can do as much as long as he doesn't hurt the woman. His haki went soft because he knows he would hurt Black Maria. That wouldn't be the case for Big Mom.

its kinda his feat as well if think about it, i remember making a statement in defense of luffy with his Hypothetical fight against mr 1, i suggested that even if luffy isn't able to dent in M1, since he's made of steel, the force behind his attacks would still reverberate as a shock wave through mr1's body if hit hard enough, so sanji did get damaged there a BIT, but I'm also wondering that dod he reinforce his suit with CoA..
