Luffy himself admitted that his previous attacks were only superficial even while in G4.
On the other hand Zoro is leaving perma damage to Kaido even after tanking combined attack of 2 Yonkos. And before that Kaido is dodging his attackd.

As far as the Manga is confirmed Zoro was > Luffy throughout the fight only for Luffy to be = to Zoro just this chapter.
Thats after getting a 2nd powerup let that sink in. The gap between Zoro and Luffy most of the timeskip should be obvious now.

Ngl, it's pretty crazy that Kaido is going to keep fighting despite having a wound now that scarred him, like blood is going to leak everytime from that wound. On top of that the Gamma Knife effects are probably gonna kick in too.

Well to be honest Luffy did fought for hours against Katakuri with a hole on his stomach what is more impressive is that Luffy got so MUCH stronger now and is only able to fight Kaido 1v1 because Kaido have tanked everything he could so far...
