But this is literally a part of her character since the beginning of WCI when we got introduced to her hunger pangs.
Everything about Big Mom is related to big personality changes, either by seeing the picture of Mother Carmel broken which completely broke her will and made her bleed from simply falling down to having turned back in to her kid personality when she drowned...
There is always personalities changes and it is a vital part of her character but you are in your right if you don't like the way Oda has written Big Mom and it's fair criticism. But all the things she has been doing makes sense.

This is why it's good that they are happening first. Kaido will be done this arc. Big Mom 50/50 or at least it leads her to her end.

It was implied that it was Streusen's unique way of parenting her, alongside Mother Carmel enabling her instincts and preventing her from feeling regrets for her actions and learning from them, that twisted her personality and caused him to become the cruel and insane woman she is today. Of course with any healthy parent or mentor she would have kept her old personnality.

And it frankly looks like Oda intends to make her revert to her old self by the end of this arc.

Yeah but maybe her kids don't affect her? I know that's dumb shit but it's pretty much the only way to explain why she was mean to pudding. And it doesn't explain her being mean to Momo. Hopefully there is a "logical" (by one piece standards) explanation from Prometheus this chapter so we aren't talking about this for 2 weeks
