It surely does feel like an asspull. The instances of effect just make it slightly less of an asspull, adds a little bit of weight to it rather than dropping in something that can be contradicted as early as 30 chapters prior to it

Oda ruined Zoros moment , ruined Big Mom. Gave luffy every powerup imaginable , the reason I hated bleach so much... turned sanji into crybaby... will make Tama MVP of wano... Hyped up Kidd and yet we havent seen him do anything... Law with most hax DF we ever saw right now is in awe from zoro who is t even a captain.... Oda really is tired of writing one piece it seems

If oda actually states something along the lines of it rarely happening then its not as much an asspull. Giving instances of effect are a great way to introduce things while make it logical. Its not a matter of asspulling, its now a matter of people just not liking it

It’s literally a last minute explanation for an asspull

It’s like Goku turning super saiyan and getting an explanation of it right when it happened and dismissing it as “rarely” happening

you need to plant the seeds before pulling shit like that. How hard would’ve it been for Oda to written a panel of Big Mom feeling bad for Momo when he was crucified?
