This should honestly be obvious but with the amount of zoro fans in this site, I feel like I might as well enlighten some of y'all. There are two major reasons why zoro can't return to the rooftop.
But even if we disregard that, there's still another problem. Zoro's health. Zoro wasn't simply defeated like Luffy or the scabbards. He sustained serious, near fatal injuries. He gave every last bit of energy he had to pull off the asura slash on kaido. Yes, he could be healed, but to what extent? Marco's flames can heal injuries, but they also drain stamina and aren't as effective when used on other people. Chopper and Hiyori could also patch him up but he's not going to be in any shape to take on kaido. And even if he was, why would he do that when his captain literally told him to stay out of it?
If I were to bet, I'd say Zoro's role is something like this. He heals up until the climax, to which he takes a shot at orochi and finishes up King, who will be stalled by kawamatsu and izo up until zoro is ready to face him.
As for Kaido? I think he gets stalled by Yamato and Marco. For Yamato specifically, I think that their fight would be something like the Omni-man/Invincible fight. Kaido won't actually want to kill his daughter, so he will hold back, whereas Yamato will give everything she has trying to fulfill the will of Oden.
- It would be out of Zoro's character
- Zoro physically can't fight Kaido again
