You know that bothers me as well, man…I think a lot of Yamato fans would love to see her drop that shtick since it has definitely gotten old very fast, and I’m hoping that we’re seeing her establish herself against her father at long last :neesama:
Yamato would be a lot cooler if it were for the Oden bullshit. So dumb.

Also @Ten Yaksha Blother the Zoro Ryuma plotline connection fell so flat. The gyukimaru bull shit was outright dumb too.

@The Unworthy

To add to the post for my comparison in case people miss read it

Ex: If WCI and Wano were movies

WCI: 40 Mil budget that made 10 Mil
Wano would be a 200 Mil budget movie that made 30 Mil

Post Time Shit Problems:

Arcs:
  1. Fishman Island: 3/10. Fisher Tiger saved this arc. Jimbei flashback was Goat. Kizaru/Arlong stuff was cool. Shirahoshi, Hody Jones, Otohime, and the ugly fucks of the Princes ruined it. The story of the Noah could have been interesting.
  2. Punk Hazard: 9/10. High Stakes while it was running. Great Characters. We got Smoker Back, Robin, Doffy, Vergo, Monet, Caesar, Law, and ending it off with Aokiji. I love winter and snow so maybe I'm biased. Even Smily was a great addition.
  3. Dressrosa: 10/10. I respect this as much as Marineford. There was crazy stakes. Although the Birdcage was PIS, it was needed. Fujitora was a great Admiral. Zoro had a great feat. I like Pica despite his ridiculous portrayal. Doflamingo is the best villain in OP yet. The Grand Fleet were all interesting. I didn't like the Tontatta's, but in relation to Usopp they became better. Usopp had great moments. Really the half of the crew that I enjoyed the most were explored this arc. So I had no problems. Sanji, Nami, Chopper, Momo, the characters I care least about Fucked off, so that was good.
  4. Zou: 3/10. I don't care. It had some nostalgia, but it just flew by. Pedro was cool. Inu was cool. Don't care about the rest of the Minks tbh... Not that minks are bad.
  5. Whole Cake Island: 2/10. I hate Sanji LOL
  6. Reverie: 10/10. Not every arc could be like this. But world building was much needed.
  7. Wano: Fuck the Samurai, Fuck the Scabbards. Fuck Oden. Fuck Cosplay Oden. Fuck Toki. Fuck for being boring. 2/10. Those two are because of Zoro.
Characters:
  • Luffy: Oda massacred my boy. I'm not going to even talk about how bad Luffy is now. Should be clear as day
  • Momo: Really? This is the guy we are supposed to root for? Why :tchpepe:
  • Toki: I explained above.
  • Sanji: Oda's wife had to have been fucked by some Sanji Cosplayer or his VA. They massacred his character.
  • Nami/Robin: The fan service... Why?
  • Yamatoe: No you right Oda, what I needed was another inconsiderate dumb fuck of a character
  • Samurai: Why? Cuz fuck em thats why
  • Scabbards: Man could they shut the fuck up and drop dead already? Holy fuck, literally no onee gives a shit
  • Ulti: Scrambled Eggs havin ass bitch
  • X Drake: Oh man, this dude was so cool, what happened?
  • Hawkins: Oh man, this pasty fuck was already a Lame, Oda managed to feed him Glue during the timeskip
  • Big Meme: Lmao this posed to be a Yonko, she became a Meme lmaoo
  • Big Meme Pirates: They got neg diffed by a bird, there was like 10 of them lmaooo
Best Post Skip Characters: Zoro, Law, Katakuri, Kaido

This all I could think of. Don't care enough to elaborate

Toki, a character from the void century turning out to be nothing more than a baby making machine for the worst character in one piece. Oden flashback was by far the worst flashback I read in any manga. Dude decides to dance around for five years while a dictator was enslaving his own people, then Oden gets one shotted by base Kaido. Oda hyped Oden to oblivion during Dressrosa and Zou and that was the best Oda can think of. The void century probably will be the most boring plotline, which is why Oda doesn't want to tell us anything about it because it's false hype.

Arc is shit for sure, Look at the popularity poll, how many Wano characters are in top 20? Only Yamato I think.
the raid is an absolute clown fest, wide range of unlikable characters that no one cares about including the scabbards, Orochi, BM etc. Main characters which are SHs are getting offscreened the most excluding Luffy and Zoro. Deceptions such as rooftop Kidd which I had high expectations of in the past...
I hope Imu doesn't end up the next Orochi or I'm dropping this shit once and for all. Oda needs to tone it down with these shit ass designs.

No one should be hyped for Inu. Just look at what Oda did with Kaido. Kaido was hyped for over a decade and Oda turned Kaido into nothing more than a meat head. We still haven't even gotten a backstory of Kaido when we are three years and 105+ chapters into Wano.

I'll wait till is over. I didn't like Dressrosa reading it weekly but after it was finished I started to appreciate how good it was and is now one of my favorites. Though on the other hand Fishman island was bad and still is bad to this day
Dressrosa actually became worse for me after re-read because you notice even more on how badly written it was. So many unnecessary plot lines that served absolutely no purpose other than to extend the arc. The only thing that made Dressrosa readable for me was Doflamingo and Bartolomeo.

Yes, yes it is. It's not hard to pinpoint the chief problems either, it's a staggering combination of a few that make it hard to get attached to the arc and the struggle.

  1. 350~ chapters of set up for mostly lackluster fights, reveals and plotlines
  2. Very little establishment for the meaningful antagonists after such a long build up.
  3. SMILE Fruits, one of the few things Oda established long ago as Kaido's bid for dominance, are decorations for Oda's paneling.

Going into Wano we should know more about the Beast Pirates than we do, so we can either focus more on the Samurai side of things as Oda mostly did or expand on the characters of the chief Beast Pirate characters. Instead, Oda gave us a big focus on Orochi and his goons which has little to no payoff. Not only do none of the characters have strong ties to the plot anymore, when Orochi was beheaded publicly 8~ chapters in the raid, it made all that time redundant.

It's a good shocking moment, but it's far from a good use of Oda's time. Especially when the 3 Calamites are still going chiefly off design and some scraps of personality, the Tobi Roppo were introduced 37 chapters ago and most have less than a full chapter of panel time from all that. We know virtually knowing about our enemies, Kaido included, so it's just... Tough to feel the tension or root against them (or for them).

Maybe if there was less build up or just less villains, this'd be fine. Alabasta Saga got away with introducing most of the upper crust of Baroque Works late into the game. But it just doesn't work with 5 freshly introduced antagonists, 3 we've known for 100 chapters now (almost 200 for Jack) and still have no idea what they're about.

SMILE Fruits also suck. Artificial devil fruits that have a 1/10th of working and the benefit isssss. Zlich. You become something colorful to laugh at for the reader. It started promising, Sheepshead was an unknown officer and seemed to do well against Brook. But god damn, are they useless freaks. I can't understand why Kaido wanted a full crew of these guys so badly.

It's baffling. Baffling how Oda manages to turn Toki into the most boring character, given the immense weight this story has placed onto the Void Century, Ancient Nation, and above all Time Travel in itself. The Scabbards are the victims of a Ponzi Scheme gone wrong by Oden. Instead of Oden paying for his countries sins, he throws those burdens onto his Retainers. Kinemon neither has Conqueror's nor is an adequate leader, but has to carry the burdens of his foolish Lord as well as the other Scabbards.

:lawsigh: I can't anymore.

I didn't even get into the problems with Big Meme, Nami, Tama, and Luffy himself.
Oden wasn't expecting the scabbards to kill kaido, he was expecting the worst generation to do that

The only problem is: too much screentime for irrelevant characters doing irrelevant things (this affects the pacing a lot)
9 Scabbards? Why 9? The most interesting ones are Denjiro, Ashura, Kinemon and Kawamatsu in my opinion (Neko and Inu too, but not as Scabbards), why do we need more? Their fight on the Rooftop was lame omfg, they looked like complete fodders, it's like Ashura wasn't able to fight Jack equally chapters ago.

Their fight against Kaido is so pointless dude, wtf, if we had like 4 or 5 Scabbards they could get a much better development strength and storywise. And Oda needs to stop with these designs, honestly.

How could he do this:

And then this:
(Somehow this is supposed to be the guy who fought Oden, even Kinemon looks "scarier" lol)
"Watch out!! the all pink fat goofy looking samurai is here!!!" Doesn't Oda realize the impact that it has on how we see these characters? And what about Raizo? His head is bigger than his whole body. It doesn't make even a little bit of sense.

And why do we need Tama? Couldn't Usopp be showcased somehow? The Scabbards? Do we really need a little girl in the middle of a war for the sake of making fodders turn into allies? Isn't this TOO damn convenient? Sometimes it looks like Oda does an IMMEASURABLE EFFORT on making things boring, pointless or predictable as hell. And then he makes Luffy too confident on himself while at the same time we got the whole convenient people doing the most convenient (or stupid) things just to lead them to victory, or even worse, it leads to nothing, whats the point of Kikunojo's existence???

This kinda bothers me. Most of these SMILES seem horrible and I can't understand why anyone would eat them when they literally turn you into a disabled freak if they even work at all.

I think it would have been better if the SMILE users were like the apostles from berserk

-Kinemon dying like three times this arc

-Having Sanji disappear for like 20 chapters having accomplished nothing

-Kaido being one of the most boring villains in the series
1) Kinemon's deaths is not a problem for me. It is actually more touching and emotional for him to die by protecting momo from Kaido, than to die at the rooftop for revenge. They are going to milk that flashback scenes of him and momo in the anime.

2) Oda has been pretty consistent with his mistreatment of sanji post-TS. Look at what he achieved in WCI, I am not surprised at all by Sanji's lackluster performance in wano. So not a big issue here.

3) Kaido is not boring per se. His "boring" perception comes from the fact that he is too strong, too OP. In fact, he is bored by this fact himself too. His mantra is literally "Why am I living in a boring world that is too weak for me?"

What makes it worse is the whole purpose now of successful SMILE fruit users is to be... Pawns for the Samurai. No dignity here, no going out with their Captain. Free will erased. It feels like such a wasted plot line, because artificial devil fruit users could be terrifying in the same way Pacifista's were. Instead it's all a wash.

oda really needs to take 3-4 months break and draw again with refreshed mind with lot more creativity,
He does, the writing has been abysmal
I think Kubo did something like that after the Fullbringer Arc for Bleach. And I wholly support it. I'd rather see quality writing and let Oda freshen up if he wants to take a 3rd of the year off to relax and recuperate. Don't think WSJ would allow it though.
