Yeah when you trivialize a super power that early in the game to keep the hype and the power inflation and the progress you begin to give it to anyone like candy
« normal » COC was meant to be a huge deal and now you have the advanced COC that only the strongest can have. So the normal one is trivialized and you can give it to more characters, and all the future have to have the new shiny Ad COC go stay relevant
This is my honest impression about Conqueror's Haki in One Piece.
My first impression was that it was just some intimidating aura like some powerful creatures have in TableTop RPG's. It gives them this menacing vibe that weaker people couldn't even touch them. It was also used to speak highly of those who could normally resist this aura. It also carried a meaning of leadership, charisma, etc.
Later on we have this weird ass confusion if CoC is something that one is born with, or something that anyone can unlock, just like the others two, but most fail to do so. What makes it even more weird is the how it is shown. A crying Doflamingo unlocks his, a raging Luffy in the middle of Marineford uses it, but people like Sengoku, Ace, even freaking WB don't use it, despite being confirmed that they have it? Really? Some random rookie that can't even control it uses it and amazes a bunch of veterans that should have an even more powerful CoC of their own?
The "leadership" and "charisma" part is also why I legit didn't like Zoro getting it. Zoro has a lot of good things going for him, but "charismatic leader" is DEFINITELY not one of them. So "conqueror" is something that translates into "charisma"? Or "strenght"? Defined by some weird competitive spirit to top everyone.
Now, CoC became a literal power boost. It's basically a "power gate".
"If you are level X, unlocking CoC will boost you to 2X. If you don't unlock CoC, you have a ceiling limit".
This is my current impression of Coc, and I don't like it. Not a single little iffy tiny bit. Which is also why I don't want Sanji getting it.
