There’s actually 3 Berserk animes.
The 1997 anime is really good. It’s a bit dated and it cuts out things like Skull Knight and Donovan, but overall it’s a pretty faithful adaptation that was made by people who cared. I’d give it like an 8.5/10.
The 2012 movie trilogy is essentially a 2 hour recap of the Golden Age. It cuts out all of the character development and dialogue (even the bonfire dreams!) but the art is prettty good. I’d give it like a 7/10.
The 2016 anime is an abomination. Not only does it have arguably the worst 3D animation in the industry, they completely butcher the story and the plot is a bizarre mash up the black swordsman, lost children, and conviction arcs that doesn’t make sense. If it’s not a 1/10 I literally have no idea what is.
