As the title says, Who's your favorite character/characters? What are your reasons for liking the character/characters?

Rules:
  • All general forum rules apply.
  • Try not to criticize another person's choices in a negative way.
  • No making fun of each other's favorites.
  • It'd be interesting if you could offer more than one reason for liking the character you like, though it's not mandatory.

My favourite character is currently still Sabo, despite I love the Grandmaster and Grandgrandmaster (I gave him this name).

Sabo reminds me of my IRL personality, it's simply impressive how Oda created a piece of my own existence without realizing. He is a fictional character with his own fictional story but my pick stems from the personality match.

Sanji / Marco
Kizaru / Noland

I like Sanji character for a lot of reasons :

- like his fighting style a lot : martials arts, kicks etc
- like a lot his brain moments : mr prince, the log pose for alabasta, the moment in Enies Lobby etc.
- the way he can handle things were others are not here : when he assumed a leading role when Luffy is not there.
- I like a lot how he dress himself : suit and tie, always class etc.
- he interacts a lot with the other members of the crew.
- the fact that he is sensitive and not an ice block : he is soft at heart and even if he is a badass he cannot change that.
- he has very good punchlines
- his sense of humour
- his moments with Zoro
- his chivalry is nice
-his lust for women was nice but i think it has become a little bit too much post skip
- the fact that he represents France is a big plus haha.

Mihawk

Loyal, honourable and dedicated to his craft, Dracule Mihawk’s character represents the best of Oda’s mature characterisation. Despite his cold exterior, Mihawk demonstrates intense loyalty to his old rival and ally and paternal warmth to his adoptees. Mihawk enjoys a quieter, more down to earth experience free of petty power struggles and obsessions with underground gangs and cakes. Providing the odd moment of snark and sass, Mihawk shows that the spoken word is indeed mightier than the sword, particularly when it comes to Zoro’s ego.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder; the Japanese and Western fandom alike eagerly await the Godhawk’s next appearance :catpole:

I'll give this page however long it takes before someone says Sanji, then it'll dissolve into arguments.

Doflamingo has been my favorite One Piece character since the mid-way point of Dressrosa. Beyond even his charisma and screen presence, I think he's a really well crafted character with nuanced behavior that you can track to his past trauma without reaching. The most prominent example of this is how he empathizes with societies rejects and takes them into provide for them in some way, although it's never purely altruistic, it's obvious that he seems a reflection of himself in children who'er suffering. He goes so far as to destroy whole towns that try to take advantage of Baby5, to study in depth on Flevance. He has his own twisted compassion for people like him, but immediately holds this disdain for someone like Bellamy who chooses to leave a good life behind for thoughtless adventure.

You can tell Oda really enjoyed writing Doflamingo, the time taken to craft his character and keep him from veering off into an over exposed joke shows that dedication. How many other antagonists does Oda show to be vulnerable like Doflamingo, screaming out and panicking at nightmares of his past, forced to drown himself in wine to numb that pain but still manages to hold the same weight—if not more —as before the revelation?

It's also nice seeing him deal with different issues as they arise in the Dressrosa arc. Deciding to keep his surrogate mother safe and risk incurring Kaido's wrath by letting the only man who can produce SMILES escape is a pretty big declaration of his priorities. There's more you can say, but that's mostly why Doflamingo's squirmed his way into my top spot and why plenty of people give Dressrosa a pass despite how bloated it is, with a hundred seemingly new characters with only 5 who really matter.

I really wish he became a Strawhat. His flamboyant personality is so much more enjoyable than the 3 recycled jokes from Brook each arc.

Shanks

-Most Badass.
-Totally dedicated towards his goal that is roaming around the world freely and partying. :afrokappa:
-Most interesting character without any flaw in whole series.
well I do hope Shanks have/had some big time flaw ...

not sure what ... but flaw always make some one more interesting

This is like picking your favorite child...but since that’s the point of this thread, I’m going with the one and only Monkey D. Garp. He’s been portrayed at every turn as an unassailable badass; he gives absolutely zero fucks about throwing his grandsons into a ravine with wild animals or mouthing off to the people above him in both the Marines and Celestial Dragons; he was one of the most powerful people in the world during his prime and is still a major threat in battle; his lineage is completely INSANE in terms of strength/reputation; he’s been hanging around since Romance Dawn V2 and was responsible for some of the biggest (pre-timeskip) reveals in the series. This man gets a ton of love and respect from the fandom, but he still doesn’t get as much as he deserves.

Trafalgar Law currently occupies my favorite character spot. It's funny though because initially I didn't like him. I thought he was some weird goth pirate and I didn't care for the supernovas being so abruptly introduced into the story. So I happily ignored Law all the way through Punk Hazard. Finally his backstory and interactions with Luffy in Dressrosa won me over. It's a testament to how much Oda put into his character, and I wouldn't be surprised if Oda has more plans for him in the future. Law also has a really unique fighting style I think.

Luffy is runner up. He's one crazy, optimistic, and lovable MC.
