General & Others Who is your favorite One Piece character?

#61
Ace because

- Had an existential crisis since he was born with her mother dying to protect the essence of his life, his father known as a criminal, but bearing the fame of being the pirate king, with both pirates and marines alike hating on him, making him question himself about his own existence but having the will to prove his existence is worth it, by trying to overshadow his own dad and become greater than even a pirate king

- He is level-headed most of the time, but also straight forward, especially in situations where he doesn't want to lose someone close to him or where he feels the ideology he follows is getting insulted. In that case, he'd become impulsive and reckless to cover what he wishes to protect, to prove people wrong, which is an attitude i admire.

- Also has a badass design, badass powers(love fire powers) that he could cleverly use to travel on the sea. His brotherly relationship with Luffy and Sabo since youth was also lovable to watch. At the beginning, Ace was very cold towards Luffy who was viewing as a simple stranger, but with time, their bond grew to the point of becoming true brothers in all but blood. He even tatoo'd his name while crossing the S of Sabo's name when we thought he was dead

- He also has a running gag, at times, you can see him fall asleep in the middle of a discussion or in the middle of a meal, which kind of make him look as pure as an infant and funny to watch
Not that I praise or idolize everything about the character, but yes xD, I agree with you and I couldn't have said it better.

About me,
Favorite male character: Ace
Favorite female character: Robin

I'll talk about Robin.
Robin is the queen. She is incredible, beautiful, intelligent, kind, brave, persevering, perceptive, concerned about her crewmates.

Her mysterious aura that she initially displayed caught my attention. Later her tragic past marked me a lot. All the suffering she went through hurt me, and I found it very unfair that she was persecuted for existing. As a child she had to learn to survive by doing things that she probably didn't want to do, in order to discover the truth about the empty century. She has always been a person who wants to learn and get to the bottom of things. She was showed look calm and self-assured, but in reality she was carrying a very large load and she was more sentimental than we thought. Luffy and his crewmates saved her, and that was so beautiful. She may have had a second chance. She found a family and now she smiles from the bottom of her heart. She follows Luffy even though he doesn't always agree with his decisions, but she always advises Luffy.
And Robin is capable of interacting with any member of the Straw Hats. We have seen an evolution of her, from being a more stoic person to being more emotional and funny.
I know that she hasn't been able to show her strength in battles, and before I complained a little about it, but it is not what I value most about her. I appreciate the inner strength that Robin has when we talk about her personality. She has managed to get ahead despite everything. I don't think I have enough words to describe Robin. I love her.

But for me it is difficult to choose only two characters, so here I leave my top 10:

1.Ace (maybe Luffy also here)
2.Robin
3.Luffy
4.Marco
5.Shanks
6.Shirohige
7.Smoker
8.Law
9.Doflamingo
10.Usopp/Sanji/Zoro

Bonus Track: Tatch, Noland, Bell-mere, Perona, Vivi, Tashigi, Hina, Koala, Reiju, Makino, Mihawk, Fujitora, Dadan, X Drake, Katakuri, etc.
In general I like many OP characters.

My top ten has varied over time and always changes, although Ace, Luffy, Robin, Law, Shanks, Marco, Shirohige, Smoker and Doffy remain in my top 10 sometime ago. Sometimes he order changes too xD.

Damn really thought I would’ve posted in this already. But he’s it is:
  1. Marco Tha Phoenix- His Friit is in my top 5 or so of favorite fruits, plus I prefer tha more laid back/troll characters personally
  2. Fire Fist Ace- Same wit Marco, his Devil Fruit is high up on my list. His main thing tho, is tha personality crisis he had and his meaning of life search
  3. Kidd/Law- These 2 are more or less equal for me. We don’t have much on Kidd but tha whole massive and random acts of violence along wit his evil Luffy motive i fuck wit. And with Law, tha whole troll personality combined with his serious level head
  4. Doflamingo- Easy to explain, he’s Odas masterpiece as far as a character goes. And his personality and weird ass wats he uses his fruit got him up there
  5. Kuzan- Tha lazy justice is a nice change of pace, and his Post Skip attire is clean add in his Cold powers East top 5

Luffy, Barring his idiocy, I was swamped with generic shounen protagonists they all felt the same to me, I started watching the anime and Luffy felt different for once. He wasn't really an underdog but a really strong guy. Now eventually he did become the underdog and it's been pretty boring since, but he's still my favorite out of the hogwash of terrible characters this series has.

I'll give this page however long it takes before someone says Sanji, then it'll dissolve into arguments.

Doflamingo has been my favorite One Piece character since the mid-way point of Dressrosa. Beyond even his charisma and screen presence, I think he's a really well crafted character with nuanced behavior that you can track to his past trauma without reaching. The most prominent example of this is how he empathizes with societies rejects and takes them into provide for them in some way, although it's never purely altruistic, it's obvious that he seems a reflection of himself in children who'er suffering. He goes so far as to destroy whole towns that try to take advantage of Baby5, to study in depth on Flevance. He has his own twisted compassion for people like him, but immediately holds this disdain for someone like Bellamy who chooses to leave a good life behind for thoughtless adventure.

You can tell Oda really enjoyed writing Doflamingo, the time taken to craft his character and keep him from veering off into an over exposed joke shows that dedication. How many other antagonists does Oda show to be vulnerable like Doflamingo, screaming out and panicking at nightmares of his past, forced to drown himself in wine to numb that pain but still manages to hold the same weight—if not more —as before the revelation?

It's also nice seeing him deal with different issues as they arise in the Dressrosa arc. Deciding to keep his surrogate mother safe and risk incurring Kaido's wrath by letting the only man who can produce SMILES escape is a pretty big declaration of his priorities. There's more you can say, but that's mostly why Doflamingo's squirmed his way into my top spot and why plenty of people give Dressrosa a pass despite how bloated it is, with a hundred seemingly new characters with only 5 who really matter.

I really wish he became a Strawhat. His flamboyant personality is so much more enjoyable than the 3 recycled jokes from Brook each arc.
2 years later, I see no cap here
Doffy is still the best One Piece villain
