The anime has been a lot better in Wano, almost unrecognisable from the mess of PH/Dressrosa, but they still do weird stuff.
Like two episodes ago, where the give nice dramatic animations to the attacks of the Strawhats… and just forgot to do one for Jinbei, despite him doing it in the manga and him being the most important Strawhat to show in that particular scene, since it’s a fight to setup his welcoming toast.
This comes into the “but why?” category
You can give them the benefit of the doubt and say that given the relative importance of CoC, they got permission beforehand from Oda to do this, whereas in most filler they just have mostly free reign. We’ll probably never know if that’s right or wrong.
But just cause Oda gave them permission (we think) to do this, doesn’t make it made much sense for then to do it. I have no idea why they thought a low key moment against three or four fodder was a better time to reveal Zoro’s CoC to the anime-only crowd than the hugely dramatic moment against Kaido on the roof. Couldn’t they even wait and have him take out a load of goons in a few episodes time when he’s running around fighting Headliners and Gifters? Or better yet, just wait until it was shown in the manga and then start giving him filler scenes, like throw in a scene of fodder trying to attack Sanji when he’s carrying Cross Zoro and Zoro knocking them all out there.
It’s not an absolutely massive, gamebreaking “why on earth would toei do this“ moment like when they decided to give Hody a real, personal reason to hate humans which was at complete odds with his motivations in the manga, but it was an odd decision that I don‘t entirely agree with.
