Mihawk deserved to be the WSS. That doesn't make him stronger than every character who uses a freaking sword though.

For what it's worth, in Stephen Pauls translation of this scene Zoro doesn't say that he wants to be the strongest swordsman ever:

Depends on how Oda defines that whole Swordman thing.
I would say, if someone uses a Sword as one of their main Fighting styles and is very skilled with it, you could Count them as a swordsman even if they are a hybrid. You stil can have over ability's like a DF for a example and fight with fists, legs, etc.
Fujitora is said to be a blind swordsman (if i am not mistaken), does it mean Mihawk is stronger than him? Not necessarily. Mihawk might be better with the Sword as Fujitora, but Fujitora also has a DF soooo...

Yet oda keeps putting zoro against fujitora and even zoro has countered his gravity but mihawk who is superior cannot ?

In one piece titles means exactly, SPECIFICALLY and precisely what they means for example Whitbeard was known as The World's Strongest Man (in people's minds that means he's the strongest fighter amongst humans) but Whitbeard wasn't called the strongest fighter he was called the strongest man which means that in terms of physical strength and durability he was the strongest but not in fighting. Mihawk is world's strongest swordsmen (in people minds he's the strongest amongst those who use sword in fighting) but in reality he has the best sword skill amongst swordsmen. Kaido is known as the World's strongest creature (in people's minds he's the strongest overall amongst all one piece chapters) but in reality he has the strongest physical strength and durability amongst living things.

Can you first clarify yourself before clarifying others

Nope. Strongest creature means strongest living being. Hence "in a 1 on 1 always bet on Kaido"
Whitebeard was the strongest man and the strongest pirate -> 1 on 1 always bet on him in his era

Mihawk is indeed the most powerful swordsman. He would beat every swordsman 1 on 1. He would beat Fujitora because Fujitora is classified as a swordsman. But there is room to question whether everyone with a sword is actually a swordsman. Swordsman refers to a martial art, to a skill, which is swordsmanship. It is different from "strongest creature" or "strongest man". Latter two aren't a skill.

Then let's assume, Roger is the WSS of his era. Stronger than Mihawk. Yet Roger didn't even achieve a black blade, which is the signature of a swordsman at his peak? Ryuma got it as the sword god, Mihawk got it as the WSS, Zoro will achieve it soon enough. Roger is a tier above Mihawk.
