Because Robin is the one with utmost distrust against people in the whole manga. For once, I felt Oda did a good job with Robin post skip showcasing her other kind of emotions. Nakama speech and Luffy being pirate King coming from a Robin is wholesome.
I think there’s two ways to tell if someone’s using haki:
1. Visual cues like the lightning and black hands and swords.
2. Verbal cues when people say they’re using haki or they’re hakis too strong. (For example when Smoker called Tashigis haki weak against Law but when he clashed with law he didn’t have the black on his jitte)
Other than that it’s just waiting for vivre card confirmation.
Law had to find a sneak attack strategy to beat Smoker lmao.

There is a difference between invisible CoA and Hardening though, hence people mocking Sanji.
Nobody is denying Sanji having CoA, confirmed several times, but he still has not shown in a fool proof way that he has Hardening.
For invisible CoA, yep most of the times people comment on it (Sentoumaru, Luffy vs Caesar for the first time, Sai´s brother in the colosseum, Tashigi vs Monet), but Hardening is a different thing.
And Oda won´t go Sanji has Hardening, so unless it is shown, it´s not confirmed. I thought maybe black lightning is indication, but Sanji himself used invisible CoA with that.
Law´s main attacks, his slashes, are useless vs Logia, and Smoker pressured Law in his main weakness, CQC. Same thing Hawkins did, same thing most mid tiers can do if they are skilled in CQC, and that´s Smoker´s main strength.
And even then he lost low to mid diff.

There really isn’t a difference between hardening and armament haki. Punk hazard shows this. Smokers jutte was able to block Laws sword slashes meanwhile Vergo who was a special armament haki user got cut with one swing.
Smoker used haki but for some reason it was harder than Vergos Hardening without the black sheen.
