Zoro clearly used it, while in the manga he didn't know he used it until Kaido commented on it. Contradiction at it's finest.

Greg talked recently about anime only scenes and whether they’re canon. Anything that gets flagged by an editor (like that would have been) gets put to Oda to ask if it’s ok. He won’t go through every line of dialogue, but he will approve scenarios.

And in the scene there’s still that small degree of ambiguity with Zoro saying the fodder had just drank too much
