It might be related to Luffy's potential, as Kaido saw just how strong Luffy became in just two short weeks. Characters like Shanks, Big Mom, Mihawk, Admirals etc... are already at their peaks. Considering Kaido was just confirmed as the strongest, those who already exist at that level wouldn't excite him, because he knows where he stands in comparison to them. But seeing Luffy go from where he was to where he is at now, in such a short amount of time, has piqued his excitement. At least, that's one potential reason for it.

That makes sense hence why Zoro was not mentioned despite doing more on the roof top as only version of Zoro Kaido faced was impressive Zoro while Luffy Kaido faced two weeks ago was trash to him but now Luffy dropped him

Bro after this Arc we are in the end game, Kaido wouldn't be a bigger threat than Luffy who will probably miss only one road ponegliph while also having a huge influence in the new world.

Preview chapter we saw how similar Zoro is to Shimotsuki Ushimaru (and Ryuma).

If Ushimaru died directly against Kaido, that will have major impact for Zoro. Now facing Kaido is something much more personal for Zoro if he knew about that. And based how he reacted in chapter 997 by just seeing O-kiku arm falling in the sky, well his rage gona fuking explode.
