People really misunderstand Yamato lol. Apparently Yamato wants to be Oden because he is a chad when they couldnt be more far from the truth. She explicitly told that she wants to "be as free as oden did". In her mind, Oden is the personification of Freedom.

I stopped reading after luffy vs sanji, caught up at luffy vs kata, remembered why i stopped reading, picked it up in the first wano chapter sepuko.
I re-read some parts later.
