General & Others Rank PTs arcs out of 10

#22
Fishman Island: 8 -- It was a great arc to start OP after the time-skip.. It had a lot of narrative concepts and had a great historical background that served a lot of importance for the present arc as a whole.. The characters we were introduced to, like King Neptune, Caimie, Shyarly, Otohime, Shirahoshi, were likable and had a lot of unique character and role in the arc.. We also had jinbe coming back to the story.

We also had something that ties to the void century - joyboy's letter - and poseidon, as well as stuff that foreshadowed what the future will bring as well. The only thing that ruined it was Hody being Arlong 2.0 and the obvious villains...

But I do like Hody's motives: "nothing" .. which ties a lot to the story behind Otohime and even Fisher Tiger as well. And it was a refreshing change tbh, to have the SH easily overpower the villains for once, and display how much stronger and reliable they've been after the time-skip.

Punk Hazard: 4 -- Not much to say really... except that 90% of this whole arc involved running, running, running, running, running... and I still didn't understand what was the whole point of Law heart-switching the straw hats... and for a set-up arc that involved running 90% of the time, 60 chapters is a bit... ehh.

Dressrosa: 7 -- I liked its unique story, culture, and the background behind King Riku and the shit he faced because of Doffy... Doffy and Law's backgrounds were great as well. Luffy vs Doflamingo ain't bad at all, and narratively speaking, Dressrosa as an arc was great. The only thing that marred it was the pacing and the fact that things just dragged on for too long, especially in the colosseum. Fuck the birdcage too..

Zou: 10 -- Not gonna lie.. it's the best thing post-time skip.. everything was handled differently compared to how arcs in OP run as usual, like the way Jack was defeated (not by the usual SH crew, which was starting to get incredibly trite by then), the info overload even for a short arc etc.. it was incredibly refreshing, and I liked the characters we got introduced to, the history of Zou, its unique culture etc.

WCI: 2 -- Jesus Christ!

Reverie: 6 -- Things got really interesting, and a lot of stuff got revealed here: Im, Ryokugyu, Sabo and the rev executives, Kuma, Bonney's background, Rox etc, and we saw characters we've known before, like Vivi, Cobra, Wapol, Dalton, Kureha, Rebecca, Viola, Shirahoshi, Neptune, Coby, Garp, Hina etc... but things just ended abruptly.. I mean, wtf... I was looking forward to the reverie, and then *poof* it fucked off.

Wano: 9 -- the only things that ruined it a little for me was Luffy's mini-training arc in Udon as well as some of the lame underlings of Kaido we've had, like Hippo-guy (who was so irrelevant that I have no idea what the flying fuck his name is), Babushka and Holdem.. Even Urashima was more interesting as a character than some of these lame ass villains. But aside that, I've been loving Wano so far.

Return to Sabaody - 7
It was a good start for the next chapter of the show and the reunion was done well by Oda. It could've been just the SH get back on ship and everyone hugs and laughs, but the whole plot of the fake Strawhats gathering and recruiting and how the people in archipelago and marines were reacting to them then seeing the real ones appears one by one and having the interaction with the fake ones as well as the marines was a great start. I loves how the friends the Strawhats made back where they were sent came to say good bye and help them too. Luffy's heartwarming moment with rayleigh in the end when he declared once again to be Pirate King was so beautiful.

Fishman Island - 7.5
This arc isn't as bad as one might thinks once you overlook the atrocity that is Hody Jones and his gang as villain. The island and its scenery is one of Oda's best design including the Ryugu Palace is a masterpiece, the history of Fishman race is well written and Fisher tiger's and otohime's flashback is one of my top 5 flashback (the other's being Luffy, Noland, Oden and Law+Mingo). The strawhats power showcasing always good to see and to see it after so long was a treat. Even the reveals we get from this arc is so important for current events and future ones too, I mean the introduction of Joy Boy to the truth about one of the ancient weapons poseidon and Luffy's destiny towards Fishman Island. Big Mom's introduction is another big reveal too which ends in an amazing altercation between Luffy and her. Ofcourse the best thing in the whole arc for me is the Jinbe and Luffy blood transfusion scene. The downgrade this amazing arc comes from weak villains we got in Hody and his clowns, not only they lacked character compared to Arlong Pirates who came 11 years ago but they're design was stupid and the only one I liked was Zeo.

Punk Hazard - 6.5
The first I watched this arc I had more favorable view of it than I do now. There's a lot of good things in this arc like Law vs Smoker, Sanji vs Vergo, Vergo vs Smoker and Law, Mingo and Law's altercation then Mingo's arrival and fight with Smoker and Kuzan, I actually liked the kids part and felt sad for what is happening to them and Nami grown a lot for me in this matter when she agreed to help and Mocha is a good character. The problem for me is with all the running that was going on and on for so long, and Caesar was at that point a boring villain (though I liked his character more in Zou & WCI arc). Still, this arc for me is one of the weakest one piece arcs so far and the weakest post timeskip.

Dressrosa - 9
Long and it dragged for some parts but as a whole this arc is so good. There is so much to speak about when one want to analyse Dressrosa since its the longest arc in the whole series and had so many different plot points and the the amount of characters invloved is crazy. First of all lets agree that Doflamingo is easily one of the best villain in one piece and thats something big to see for a show that had so many great villains, from his design and his laugh to his intellegence and evil mind and behaviour all the qualiteis of a pure evil that one has to admire and to add all this with the fact that he's very strong and his devil fruit power thoguh seems uninteresting but he makes it lethally interesting specially if it comes with strong haki and awakening. The colosseum was a nice add to the arc and I actually loved though its not well received by some fans, its a famous shonen thing that Oda gave it a one piece touch to it. Of course the return of Sabo is nice and his fight in colosseum and against Fujitoa was albeit small but beautiful. Mingo and Law's falshaback as I said before is one of my top 5 favorite in the manga, the story of how Mingo took over Dressrosa and the history of Dressrosa. Tontatta and their story plot is not liked by people but I like it and they are so cute yet admirable and I felt for their struggle (I feel like i am easily pleased by Oda's writing even when its not well received by many others). The final fight between Luffy+Law vs Mingo+Trebol was great and gear 4 revelation shocked me and made me laugh in the same time and the final KKG blow was in my top 10 one piece moments. Ofcourse the grand fleet creation was an amazing end for an amazing arc.

Zou - 9
A lot of information revealed in this arc but my favorite thing in this is the land itself and the tribe that lives over it. The mink tribe is officialy my favorite species in one piece. Their loyalty and their power is something to admire. The whole confrontation with Jack and his men was nice. Raizo is safe still gives me goosebumps.

Whole Cake Island - 9 (I feel it deserves more)
A musical arc that gives you a classical disney movie feeling cannot be anything but a masterclass. Big Mom and her family are a pleasure to watch from their design, names, powers to their relation between each other. Katakuri is easily one of one piece best written characters but what made him even more special is his character development, his fight with Luffy is my all time favorite and it overtook the fight between Luffy and Lucci. The different Islands and the uniquness of each one makes this arc more colourfull and beautiful. Two new forms of gear 4, a comedic one that ended a funny fight and the other a badass and a better form of bound man that ended the best fight. This arc has two of my top 20 favorite episodes in the anime, the first being the snake man and the final part of the fight and other episode is the soul pocus episode. The Vinsmokes were a good add and Sanji's past here was great and gave the flash back from Bartatie arc a better depth to the whole story of Sanji. Gang Bege is an amazing character and I actually never liked him before when I saw him in Sabaody. This arc is a masterclass that I feel is overshadowed by the weekley reading problems that some fandom can't deal with. even though thats the norm for one piece and Oda's writing been this way as early as Alabasta and thats his approach for telling long story and build up but the defferince here is most people caught up to the manga and are reading the chapters on a weekely base.

Levely - 9.5
Short but sweet. I should give it a 10 had it gone a little longer. I don't need to say much about this arc but that it was the best 6 consecutive chapter weeks in the whole of one piece (I think that the latest chapters might be a contender).

Wano - 9.5
Its so good and I enjoy it a lot. There is something weird though and that is that I loved the second act of Wano way more than the first one and of course third act so far been the best of the three. I won't go much in details for Wano since its still going but as of now it has the best flashback ever and the best current time death scene in the whole of one piece.

Overall:
I think the timeskip arcs started ok/good and kept getting better and better but the problem that some might have is always going to come from two factors nostalgia and the weekly reading (of course not always and not for everyone but I feel thats the main reason some can't enjoy it as much as others or as they used to be before tiemskip)

Reunion: 6,5/10, good to see them back together
Fishman island: 6,5/10, ok story but weak opponent
Punk hazard: 7/10, good set up arc, some nice fights, law was a champ in this one
Dressrosa: 7,5/10, it felt a bit long in the end but doffy was a great villain, creation of the grand fleet, G4 intro, and again doflamingo was a formidable villain
Zou: 8/10, lots of revelation, the minks were amazing with that twist, Jack's intro (first bounty hitting the billion mark)
WCI: 8/10, first encounter with a Yonko crew, luffy beating 2 commanders and getting fs, G4 snakeman, Capone bege and his crew were awesome, I liked the interactions between sanji and pudding. Great moments for jimbei and brook. Nami was sexy af in this arc. My only reproach is that sanji didn't have a full fight
Reverie: 8/10, lots of reveals, Im intro, good to see some characters again especially princess vivi, short and fast to read
Wano: 8,5/10, the story is good (the time travel was well executed), lots of supernovas, good fights so far, cool moments for zoro and sanji, luffy learning ad coa and mastering it, oden flashback is great, I might rate it better at the end, I'm expecting lots of epic moments in the future.
My only reproach is the kaido vs luffy, getting one shoted didn't make sense after all he went through in wci and given the fact he'll endure a lot more in the upcoming fights with only a week and a half in between

FI: 5.5 (Fisher Tiger flashback saved this arc from being a 4 or lower)

PH:6.5 (could have done without children running around the entire arc, good setup arc though)

DR:5.5 (a master class on how to drag an arc)

Zou: 9 (to the point, short yet impactful)

WCI:4 (Katakuri saved it from being a 2, Sanji was a travesty in this arc, Big Mom constantly whaling and Germa's entire existence didn't help)

Wano: 8 and climbing. Really strong introductory act, act 2 was mediocre at best, Oden's flashback has been solid. I expect big things from the remaining acts.

A 10 would be Arlong Park, , W7 saga, and Sabaody for reference.

FI - 2 Pathetic.
PH - 6 Okay.
DR - 1 Worst Arc in the entire manga along with the Foxy Arc.
Zou - 9 Great, still bewildered that Oda could produce this post TS.
WCI - 4 Shit.

Some arcs have underrated moments but also overlooked lows, but I think it should be obvious to any fan the pretimeskip portion is better.
No, it isn't.
Post TS feels much more as a unique and cohesive story compared to pre TS which instead is more a collage of different stories attached one to the other.
Is like comparing a book of short stories about a certain number of characters to a novel with the same characters as protagonists. The former feels more focused and compelling if we compare the single "portions", because every single one of those is a finished story which is, in itself, basically self conclusive
The latter is a story with a much bigger scope, in which every part of it other than being worth itself leads to another and is deeply connected and influenced by the one which came first.
Right now we are just halfway through this novel.

Which is concretizing what it is but does not evaluate, neither is inherently better than the other

Taken as a WHOLE post-TS has a richer, more cohesive and better planned story. According to tastes one can still prefer Pre-TS due to the single arcs edging out the following counter parts, but post TS has undeniably a more solid macro-plot.

Fishmen Island - 7/10

Definitely the freshest feeling arc of Post timeskip. It was nice to see the Strawhats strut their stuff, however, the villains were particularly weak. And I don't mean only physically. The royal family is endearing, and there's some very strong, yet foreboding hints for the main plot.

Punk Hazard - 7/10

Another solid arc, and a nice introductory island to the New World. It also acts as an instigator for the massive Yonko saga that we're still in. This is where One Piece's gets denser as a narrative, with a lot of moving parts. The conflict with Caesar Clown isn't too compelling, unfortunately. Despite so, we get insight into the manufacturing of SMILE fruits, as well as a deepening connection between G-5 and the Strawhats. One that has yet to be addressed. Oh, and Law gets to show off.

Dressrosa - 6/10

This arc had way too many moving parts for its own good. The revolutionaries, Blackbeard Pirates, Donquioxte family, the future GF members and their individual factions, the Riku family, Marines, and the Strawhats. It all contributed to an arc that ballooned way pass its expiration date. And still, in the end, some things were not given much due process. The Riku family sideplot kinda got lost in the shuffle despite its focus earlier in the arc's time. And events all happen at once, it causes the pacing to grind to a halt in order to resolve them. All that said, still a has some stellar moments that rank highly, and most of the Strawhats that were featured in the arc had great highlights.

Zou - 8/10

The kind of breather arc we needed after the mammoth Dressrosa arc. And it was a good one at that. Not much in the way of action, but the lore was amazing. Probably the best arc to read weekly. Jack was at his most menacing in this arc, and while just a subordinate, he was just as threatening as any given arc villain could've been. The fact he never met the heroes and is only mentioned in passing added to his menace. This would also be where the Strawhats officially come into contact with an emperor. The minks are very amicable race, and you can feel their undying devotion when they sacrificed so much just to protect 1 person. Not much more to say beyond this. It was a good refresher.

WCI - 7.5/10

There's way too much I want to say about this arc, and I'd prefer to keep it brief with I did enjoy it and all its ups and downs. The back half of the arc drags on a lot, and there are times where the plot stretched itself too much for the Strawhats sake, however, the point that was intended to be come across still was. Nami and Brook were mvps, and some of the Charlotte family members receive breath yet rewarding character arcs. It suffered arc fatigue similar to Dressrosa, but I think it managed it better in some instances.

Wano - 7/10

The arc hasn't reached its conclusion, so this is a tentative score. Despite its current length at about 60 chapters, Wano hasn't reached that arc fatigue which is present in most other mammoth arcs. It has to do with how Oda has broken up the arc into a Johakyu kabuki play format. It makes it so much easier to compartmentalize the contents of the arc. The Scabbards went from being meh supporting characters to me into the arc's primary source of emotional resonance. It's been great to see how each one has had to deal with the fall of Wano. A lot of effort has gone into displaying how much the country has deteriorated since its glory days as presented in the Oden flashback. And the people of Wano definitely have more of my sympathy for them than most of other country citizens. The problem, however, is with how underwhelming the antagonists have been this arc. Queen has been a riot, but not for the reasons I look for in a villain, he's just a solid character. Kaido and Orochi just aren't doing it for me. Kaido has the threat level and power, but his inclusion thus far feels like an afterthought, and while Orochi's been a more central antagonist, he sorely lacks in presence.

First of all: I think you really have to re-read all of post-skip in order to judge fairly. Only going off ones own weekly reactions can be very deceiving, since all arcs are way better if you read them in one go.

Fishmen Island 6/10
Punk Hazard 7/10
Dressrosa (before birdcage) 8/10 ; Dressrosa (after birdcage) 5/10
Zou 9/10
WCI (first half) 9/10 ; WCI (second half) 3/10
Reverie 10/10
Wano 8/10 (so far)
