If Shiryu was able to surpass all the original members of the BBPs, and got second ship ? Why cant he surpass Burgess ? Why is BB adamant on keeping Burgess as the captain of the first ship….and his RHM ?

” Buh…Buh…its not position of power”, “Its Loyalty”….then why isnt Shiryu like 5th ship Captain ? How tf did Shiryu get to 2nd ship Captain when we know damn well BB’s original followers are more loyal ?

Blackbeard entrusted Ace’s fruit to Burgess…thats a big deal. He wants Ace to be reborn into Burgess. Burgess is also the BBP whos the most like BB. Like they both always get Ls, until they get rewarded with the Ult W. Blackbeard captured Ace, and Burgess helped found Revo HQ and had the BBPs destroy it.

- Burgess also was handling Base Sabo, making Sabo run away to the Mera Fruit and eat it. Base Sabo is Dragon’s YC1
- Burgess made Koala piss her pants, and had a similar threat lvl to Doffy in Sabo’s eyes.
- All of Base Sabo’s attacks are useless on him, and he cant crush Burgess’s head like he did Vice Admiral Bastille
- Only attacks that do shit to Burgess is the flame fruit attacks

Burgess did this all DFless, once he gets a DF he‘ll be dangerous.:steef::steef::steef:

I would guess it’s a nod to WB’s crew since when he created the crew divisions he gave Oden, easily his strongest subordinate, the second seat. Even going as far as leaving the seat vacant for 20 years and giving it to Ace who we all know had crazy potential. I definitely think there’s a subtle parallel between Oden and Shiryu, very powerful swordsman that are the clear strongest memebers upon arrival and both expressed how the captain was “the kind of man I’ve been waiting for”. As far as who the “vice captain” is if I’m not mistaken in some vivre card I think it said Lafitte is not only the navigator but also the chief of staff, if we even look at the manga Lafitte seems to be extremely loyal going as far as threatening Pizarro’s life for suggesting he should take over as captain. A good case for Burgess could be made as well they were some of BB’s day 1s for a reason, but in terms of strongest member I think that will remain to be Shiryu seeing that he most likely fights Luffy’s strongest sub, who’s also a powerful swordsman.

Because Oda likely doesn't care about this stuff's consistency.

Ace was also commander of the second division yet not necessarily the second strongest in the crew. And even if the case that doesn't make Burgess necessarily stronger than Shiryu. I mean we saw how Sabo treated the poor man. Shiryu was labeled as Magellan level before undertaking the TS.
