Why is Oda repeating Katakuri's character for a second time in Wano?

To show to everyone that King is not a pushover and actually gonna be a training tool for Zoro's progression.
Only difference Zoro is facing stronger and better fighter than Katakuri.

Nah, Oda's just being lazy with the characters. He did the same thing for sasaki, and basically gave him the exact same ability Buffalo had.

I thought the design had some similarities but it didn't bother me at first.

But giving King body image issues just makes him a katakuri rip off imo

Kata was the greatest character in his arc, very popular in the OP fandom, prob even profitable to Oda so he thought of making a cheaper copy of Kata.

He's a mixture of Marco and Katakuri. I'd say the comparisons are much closer to Marco.

Btw, Oda loves recycling tropes. I think Marco/Jozu were based on Doffy/Kuma.

3rd strongest guy (Warlords, WBPs, Beast Pirates, RHPs) is always a fat, giant dude. 2nd strongest guy is a skinny dude with light hair (at least Beckman in his old age).

Katakuri got back up before Luffy, and could have easily finished him off while Luffy was still recovering from G4, but chose not to. There is no telling how much longer Katakuri could have continued fighting for, had he chose to keep fighting.

If King truly loses to Zoro in a 1 v 1, in not even a fraction of the time Luffy and Katakuri fought, and King can no longer physically continue the fight, then Katakuri > King

In that scene, I don't think Katakuri was in any position to keep fighting. Neither he nor Luffy were. All he could do was congratulate Luffy on surpassing him and fell on his back as some nod of respect.

The whole fight was built up as Katakuri to realize that no matter what he did, Luffy would continue to get up and fight. Knowing that, he knew his defeat was only a matter of time, and so he went down on his own terms, falling on his back.

That was the beauty of the entire encounter. The man whose back has never touched the ground, was not put on his back by some super powerful move, but rather him coming to grip with the reality that his opponent has surpassed him, and him admitting defeat.
