He said something similar about Pica too. Zoro's probably being tactical as there is apparently something different about King's body that makes him hard to defeat.

He never take Pica seriously,he never said that he couldn't beat Pica. He know that after he figure out how to find him. Pica never overpowered or even match Zoro. In fact Pica even had a advantage in terms of fighting Zoro because of DR. On a Ship or a small city he would get rekt pretty hard.

The whole Situation with King is different and we need to see first what happen in the chapter to judge why Zoro bring that line. Not forget chapter 1027 the first spoilers didn' mentioned anything to Zoro vs King, we learn that only when we get the summary that Zoro was overpowered.

King did the same as Queen and Oda hype his Queen form via smashing Sanji, you can expect that King new form also get a high hype moment this chapter. Don't compare Pica situation with King situation.
