Kaido is no exception, I literally wrote it in my threads.

They also underestimated Oden

Most of them don't understand storytelling

Oden struggled against an old guy using the barrier fruit, 5 years later he is overpowering Kaido and people are saying we are underestimating Oden. Nothing he has shown prior indicated such an outcome

that just speak for the barrier barrier fruit being the strongest defense and Oda is gonna exploit that ability in this battle as well , that why Barto is Luffy's subordinate in the first place. this time the fruit is in Orochi's enemies side

Why should they stop trashing him ?

It's the Kaidou side who always thought that Kaidou would never have a bad showing in this manga, thus taking the right to freely trash every other character whatsoever without any context , but cry when their own ass is on the chopping block.

It was kinda obvious that Kaido's "always bet on him 1vs1" was nothing but pure hype but at the end, he's still the WSC and the main antagonist in Wano, the arc which was highlighted throughout 3 different arcs.

At first, it was Big Mom who was trashed, afterwards Fujitora and now Kaido. I hope people will finally learn not to read the story with their pure powerlevel headcanon and call it trash afterwards... Circumstances ALWAYS matter on a battle and depending on that, even weaker characters could win. Top tiers are NOT invincible.

Wouldn't be surprised at his point since Oda has lost all his sense of consistency and powerscaling. Hell, Luffy taking on Big Meme and Laido together is seeming alot more plausible now lol

It doesn't trash 1 vs 1
The Kaido in these flashbacks wasn't even mentioned by Roger nor WB as a powerful threat
Even when Oda speak of Roger Era, he only mentions the 5 ( Golden trio and marine duo) who were reigning
And states BM was powerful

This Kaido has no WSC hype, no 1 vs 1 hype, no Yonko title.

People want this Kaido PL to affect current Kaido PL badly

And in the end he and his scabbards still got defeated thanks to cheap distraction.

If only Oden actually tried to unite his alliances (Yasuie, Prime Hyou, yakuza bosses, Ushimaru etc) and attacked Kaido together. And leave 1 unit to guard his family.
But nope
Instead he danced around while his allies got defeated one by one
Acted on his own and scabbards, and ultimately lost
