That's not how it goes though.

it doesn't need to be a full on fight this chapter.. this whole fight in general has been constant character struggle for sanji.. and this Geisha and rat stuff might actually have merit coz guess what he's fighting an opponent with the ability of his sibs who use to torture him fir feeding rodents in their castle by cooking em food.. ofc it can be disproportionately mostly fight but i don't see how "unnecessary" this really is when its actual symbolism in front of us

For actual symbolism we had whole WCI where Sanii vs his family drama was going on.


I agree that sanji was struggling with his inner fears that he will become like his brothers but not even once oda brought up the symbolism of sanji fighting an opponent having all of sib abilities until now.


And, I don't see any merit in highlighting this aspect when oda had plenty of opportunity to do so in WCI but he didn't
