i need to watch more but im a big fan of buster keaton and m hulot really reminded me of some of that stuff. did you ever see The General, about the train chase?
I have seen most of Keaton's work in the 1920s, and The General is great, though my favorite of his is Sherlock Jr., followed by Seven Chances.

No wonder Hulot reminded you of Keaton. Tati himself admitted Keaton to be a huge influence on his work and when Tati won the Oscar for Mon Oncle, his only request to his US contacts was meeting Keaton who at that point lived in a retirement home. They did meet, btw. :myman:

Also, if you wanna start with screwball comedies, remember these 3 names: Lubitsch, Cukor, and Sturges. :zosmug:

The critics also said TLJ was the best Star Wars movie, so yeah i don't read reviews.
Of the new trilogy? Objectively, it has the best writing/directing. A lot of what people hate about last Jedi is how they treated Ray's lineage (which they retconned again lol) and Luke's characterization and fate by the end of the film, and for sure I agree with that.

I won't deny I didn't "like" certain decisions made in the film, but Rian Johnson directed literally some of the best Breaking Bad episodes ever and is an amazing director through and through. There is a reason Last Jedi, as a FILM, is critically rated high. It is by the most unique Star Wars film from a filmmaking perspective.

Tldr: You can separate a film vs plot decisions.

Now i'm convinced people here are just trolling me, i guess an ignore session is on the cards.

im tentatively very hype for dr strange 2. sam raimi has been hit or miss with his last few movies but this seems right up his alley if he can go back to that Evil Dead/Darkman/Spiderman 1 and 2 talent. I hear Bruce Campbell is in it, so thats a good sign to me lol
Yeah, I am also hoping that Raimi isn’t washed. I am actually a bit concerned that they changed directors a bit late in the game but I trust Marvel to make the be

General theory might be that people have had the X-Gene their whole lives, but the snap produced a ton of cosmic energy, then again when Hulk and Tony did it. This cause people to unlock their powers indefinitely.

I also think this is why they scrapped inhumans on the MCU side.
That could work but some characters, like Magneto or Apocalypse, have backstories goes back decades or even centuries. You could make them exceptions I guess.

TBH they scrapped Inhumans because the TV show was absolutely trash lmao. They were trying to force Inhumans to be the X-men cause they didn’t have the rights at the time (and it wasn’t handles by the movie side)

Nah I don't mean the show, they've they've allegedly scrapped Ms. Marvel's Inhuman origin but we'll see what happens.

As for Magneto, etc, I guess it depends on how they address it.

For those who don't know what mise-en-scene is here you go:

Basically, Playtime has very interesting and unique visual design that also plays into the narrative. An example is that the MC of the movie is trying to find someone in a vast office building but consistently has trouble with the similar-looking and complicated layout. :feelsokeman:
Even something simple like the office assistant walking to Hulot's room where the inflatable chairs are is super funny and masterfully done. :myman:

The techno fair where the German guy mistook him for a thief was superb, too. And the fake door in the restaurant was basic, but it delivered like nothing else.
