General & Others How would you make Luffy a better character?

I don't think he's more childish, selfish or reckless.
He's just more confident. I mean every captain of the other crews are as well. I don't blame him for wanting to fight admirals or yonko, that's what he needs to aim.
Roger, wb, oden, rayleigh, gaban, kizaru, katakuri, doflamingo, cracker and so on were all cocky and arrogant when it comes to their fighting abilities. Why wouldn't luffy be the same?

Well, actually I'd change only one thing and that's his design since Luffy is almost 20 years old but looks like 12 years old. I know why Luffy looks like that but com-on man he's now fighting with Yonkos and is going to be a Yonko himself at the end of the Wano arc there is nathing wrong with Luffy to gain little bit of size similore to the size of Ace or at lest Zoro & Sanji's size.
The only time when Luffy had a decent amount of muscle is in this panel
But that's just because Oda is very inconsistent with the size and that's the only panel when Luffy looked good (by mistake:mad:) in other panels Luffy is skinny as hell even after Udon. Luffy is getting lost around characters like Kidd, Zoro, Killer, Sanji and even Law because this guys have enough amount of muscle mass especially Kidd he has a lot of muscles which adds charisma to his character.

I would give him at least a little bit of a sex drive.
And no, that's not meant to be a joke or something. It's just that I find it so boring and oldschool that so many protagonists in shonen manga are basically asexual. It's just not realistic at all.
I think Oda could've at least changed it after the timeskip, when Luffy went 19. At this time the vast majority of readers had grown into being adults anyway (little stat: last year 87% of OP readers were 18+ according to several polls).
That's my only little grip with Luffy and OP in general. Oda could've moved the series into a more adult-like setting, growing with his readers. He could still do his silly jokes, but also wouldn't have to shy away from some sex, booze, violence and death.

I've never seen an enemy respect luffy at the beginning of their fight, they always say he's weak af yet they all lose.
I've never seen people being upset when zoro wanted to fight fujitora yet they were when luffy wanted to, even though luffy >> zoro. Never seen anybody being upset at Roger being cocky, at doflamingo being the arrogant human being he is.
You guys needs to stop lying, when luffy sees someone strong he says it, he called the dukes strong, he called cracker strong, he respected kata.
Just because he wants to defeat them doesn't mean he's in the wrong.

Oda said that in Wano he will have to understand that to win sometimes you have to sacrifice something (something like this at least) I hope he stays true to his words since imo he needs another Sabaody. His worst loss post time skip was vs Kaido which resulted in him getting a teacher who made him stronger with new skills and a plethora of new allies in no time so that actually was no loss but a big gain. What is left was a triumph march (see beating Kata and learning FS mid fight despite being way weaker). So he needs to lose, maybe we will get just when the flashback ends.
