HxH is probably the number 1 anime recommendation I’ve gotten. Which sucks because it’s probably the worst anime I’ve ever seen.

). it's weird to compare it with Kingdom, Vinland Saga, Vagabond, Berserk ( or even MHA, KnY, OPM etc.. ) though, maybe because i read each one of them for different purpose ( e.g. Bleach's fights/art and Kingdom's plot/world building )

Agreed, it’s not much fun in the episode 1. Heck even I almost quit it but was just curious and continued and rest is the history. HxH is some next level and the writing itself is just.. it catches you off guard even though you’ve read all the epic mangas of your lifetime. And in the later half of the series you need 200+ IQ to fully grasp the idea of what’s going on and how much is going on. So, it’s better to leave it outta here.

The animation was lazy
The characters were uninteresting
The story was generic
And just generally speaking there was nothing that held my attention really.
With Bleach, at least in between the stupid humor, nonsense High School teen drama, utterly stupid characters, and nonexistent story, you get to see a guy with a big ass Sword cleave a giant demon in half or something.
With HxH it’s just like “here’s a bunch of nothing happening. Please keep watching for more nothing next episode”
I personally love MHA but if you’ve gone to chapter 200 with it then you’ve given it a fair shot and there’s not much point in trying to defend it from you lol.
Again, my humble opinion. I don’t claim HxH or Bleach are objective garbage, as both series have massive followings. Lol
His bankai and overall performance before he get killed by Yhwach was insane good, Kubo really take time to make it very perfect.
First in the battle against the Thunder lightning bastard who steal the bankai of his friend:
And how the commanders get hyped up because how angry Yamamoto was:
Then when he three sternritter who before beat commanders attack him but he easily stomp them:
The hype, the battles, Yamamoto, everything was just epic.
Dude hype up the morals of his soldiers just by using his insane reijatsu, it was kinda epic how he stomp sternritter right and left.
And his battle how he defeat fake Yhwach was also a amazing panel:

Ok I understand. I do think you should try to give it another shot. I do agree the 2011 version has cut out a lot from the original manga. The early stages of the 2011 version is heavily censored and not as comedic as the 1999 version. However it gets better within the second arc.
I suggest you watch the 1999 version for the first arc. And when you finish the Hunter exam switch to the 2011 version. Thats the best way tbh. I also disliked HxH at first. My friend kept on pestering me to finish because the later arcs are purely amazing.
