I'm not sure what use it would have or if there's even any chance it's used this way but just because he doesn't produce rubber doesn't mean he couldn't turn other things rubber, if we understand paramecia awakening as expanding the power or influence of DF abilities beyond oneself then Luffy who has rubber properties could grant that property to other things (instead of a rubber mass being produced from the ground the ground itself would have rubber properties).

It only expands what the user is already capable of doing. Awakening only enhances what a fruit is already able to do hence why kids cannot create or turn other things into metal because his base ability is magnetism and not metal

But I’d argue that this is because the entirety of the post time skip so far was about powering up.

I have a feeling that this won’t be the case going forward. Shiryuu might not be stronger than King and will just present different challenges to deal with (invisibility), Akainu might not be stronger than Kaido and will just present different challenges to deal with (how do you hit w/o getting burned?), same with Blackbeard (devil fruit cancellation).

This is what I mean, typically different challenges employ a more difficult fight here. Luffy will be stronger post Kaido. His fight with Akain or Blackbeard or Shanks will probably be "harder" in essence because it's the nature of Shonen and how it progresses. Again, not talking about pure strength here.

Sure, pre-timeskip had situational moments, but Luffy was a stronger man fighting Lucci than Crocodile and needed powerups to fight him.

Being a Shonen, you expect the next fight to be more impressive/difficult no?

I’m literally an Akainu mega fan but I have Kaido top 1.

There literally a chapter called “Island of the Strongest” and Kaido’s VC says WSC without any of the “said to be” stuff.

Admirals fans never denied yonkou strenght and acknowledge Kaido as being at the top, or very near it.
