Blackbeard has been lied his whole life! He's going to end up like Madara. In the recent chapter we learned that the Gorosei can change the name and disguise the real powers of Devil Fruits, it is very naive to believe that they will write on the books powers and abilities that could suppose a threat to them. The Yami Yami has never been perceived as anything particularly dangerous by the Gorosei.

I don't even know why it's stated to be the strongest fruit. Let's leave aside that it's part of the reason why Blackbeard is allowed to have another devil fruit since his abnormal body is also playing a role, you have that he can absorb pain, and attract users, and absord things like a black hole... but it can be easily disabled as we saw with whitebeard.

I'll give the benefit of the doubt because I believe he's got a darkness form like Amaru that's gonna be pretty broken but I'm not even sure if that's going to happen...

I am pretty sure that there has to be superior powers that aren't even contained in that devil fruit book. Maybe a fruit that doesn't to any of the 3 know categories, too.

This is the type of issue that I have. Yami can compromise Magu"s power but in what conditions? By touching the palm of your hands directly with the user? In that condition it's the strongest? Too many things can happen and he's literally too exposed to attacks when he uses the Vortex... There's also the natural physical strenght, he's not just going to grab yoinkous and admirals like he did to Ace...

Yeah, apparently devil fruits can work amazing when it comes to specific functions.

Sugar's DF can be so devastating if your name is Garp for instance or in general if your combat speed is so great even better since you are allowed to touch your enemy and of course your take is strong enough to affect.

I doubt the book of DFs is made by the World Government, but is rather an Encyclopedia made by the people who have come into contact with those fruits. This book is also incomplete. And as for that Devil Fruit, even though its name was changed, Blackbeard could've gone for the fruit based on its new name too. e.g. the WG naming the fruit A into B, hence Blackbeard simply referring to the fruit as B.

Blackbeard searching for that specific fruit for decades should tell you that it's actually quite powerful. Though one must consider that
a) some top tier Logias were out of reach due to admirals having them
b) Blackbeard never actually said it's the strongest devil fruit, but either the most dangerous or, according to Stephen Paul (new, superior viz translator) the most "wicked".
