I do not understand why people believe that luffy is a good guy and the marines are evil. Luffy has gone back on his convictions so many times. Luffy said he was never going to run and he ran against katakuri. Luffy said that he was never going to lose and he lost to cracker and kaido.

I do not understand how everyone that allies with luffy in the one piece world looks at him as a messiah. Even kaido was waiting for joyboy which makes luffys accomplishments as a pirate cheap.

Literally I am so tired with luffy being put in a pedestal. It is almost as worse as oda is trying to make yamato a likeable character for me.

What do tou guys think? Do you find it problematic how lyffy a pirate is held in messianic regard by everyone even when he shows dishonorable acts?

luffy got here because of his achievments and being a quite different pirate than most pirates, when your a beaken of light in the surrounding darknees your goner be treated differently, people change their minds on luffy because of his action.

First, Luffy lost to Katakuri not Cracker. He beated Cracker with Nami's help.

The problem is Oda saying things and doing others. He fail to show Luffy strong then he has to go back in his words. For some reason he needs Luffy to have drawback in his abilities while villains doesn't and can't power up using their lifespan or any similar drawback.

well the whole set up is about piracy, his ultimate goal doesnt have something to do with good deeds like becoming PK to protect people or the world, its just a selfish personal dream. Luffy being a hero was just extra plot, he is a pirate who have good heart. that ocassionally happens to save someone from abusive persons, call it messiah or chosen one. but the thing is thats how they portray every shonen protagonist.

Luffy doesn't care about being defined as a hero and no one of the SHs does if I'm not mistaken.
