Powers & Abilities Oda nerfed the Calamities for the Wings.

Oda nerfed King’s Defense by having him have a Speed Mode with lower defences….he also made him not have a proper Hybrid Mode to fight in…..meaning he doesnt have constant Zoan Dino Skin support.

In general King’s defence was highly nerfed

Whereas for Queen….Oda nerfed his offense. His ephitet and main ability was plagues….yet he never even used one against Sanji. Not one…which is insane. We can see Queen’s plagues are insanely powerful.

Heck theyre probably the most lethal weapons within the verse. More lethal than DFs. For example Magma….supposedly has the highest AP and Lethality. Yet it doesnt hold a dime to the Mummy Plague. That shit nearly killed Udon Luffy within minutes. Had Chopper not been there….Luffy wouldve been dead. Whilst his Ice Oni Plague stalemated Marco’s Healing Flames. And Marco’s DF powers were no match for it. All he could do is buy time….which would waste most of his stamina.

People say Zoro cut his only Plague weaponary. But that was never stated. Just a retarded assumption that Queen an inventor of weapons…only has one weapon to shoot his plagues. In general Oda nerfed him and made him forget about his plagues against Sanji….for the sake of a Vinsmoke showdown I guess.

So yh both Calamities were nerfed. King in Defense….and Queen in Offence.

Speed Mode shouldnt have existed and King shouldve had a proper Hybrid form

Queen shouldve used his Plagues….literally any of them.

i can confirm this by how oda nerfed jack and bigmom in wano , most promising characters are getting ruined so the alliance can win , Oda at this point really dont care who is stronger, the maincharacter side winning is his top priority even if it will ruin characters :lusalty::josad:

--What king could have done is stay at sky and do long range attacks still zoro is clearly ahead of king with adv coc ; there is so much king can do at the end

--Queen nerfed himself a lot and unlike king's special dura he still takes damage so he suffered more against marco as well as sneak attacks from sanji
That s what king did in 1035 he went off island and ranged attack

"Nerfed" is such an annoying buzzword that gets thrown around way too often...

King wasn't nerfed. Oda specifically introduced a new race of which he is the last known survivor, and through this gave him powers of fire creation and that incredibly high defense + some pretty nonsensical ability with that head catapult attack. Having more speed in exchange for less defense isn't a nerf, it's a weakness. Which is fine.

Queen... yes, he was basically nerfed. Not just bc of the plagues, but in general. He has a wide spectrum of abilities and each and every one of them was underutilized. Jack of all trades, master of none.

King was decimating Zoro until he unlocked ACoC.. but queen was kinda nerfed since he shot himself a lot and didn't use his ice oni stuff.
Zoro blocked/dodged 90% of King's attacks. And even without ACoC he managed to make King bleed(retconned by Oda later on) and break his mask.

Zoro learning ACoC doesn't have much to do with he defeating King is more about Enma not nerfing him anymore(still does because of stamina issues). Zoro only defeated King because he learned his weakness about flames on/off. We don't know how King would handle against ACoC since we only have one panel of him dodging ACoC attack but I argue that Zoro would beat him anyway without ACoC once he learned his secret.

King wasn't nerfed. In fact it was retconned to be stronger because Zoro's first attack on King made him bleed and later on he says King didn't bleed once since they started fighting.

King has an hybrid form which is OP. We saw how he was making several flying cuts that were much stronger than those ones created by Kaido at rooftop fight. You can argue that he didn't used this form again later on but it seems his strongest attacks needed a sword to be wielded.

Queen was nerfed since he didn't used his plague thing on Sanji for sure.

How did he nerf characters that he made up in this arc specifically to be beaten by Straw Hats?

Queen wasn't nerfed, the fight was rushed.

Oda is a romantic, which ebbs into his works. He would LOVE to make this big epic 10 character Odyssey, but he is a mortal man, 25 yrs in and wanting to spend his time with family eventually.

I don't really deride him, my take may be wrong, but i think he genuinely loves writing&drawing and he gets super excited and begins to unravel all of these story threads and lore but he has to make narrative progress/closure. Shonen Jump is a fucking wild medium, most authors you wait until they've finished the book & get to digest, interpret & view the complete project, but manga is chapter by chapter. Western comics are similar, but it is a team effort and a brand being pushed (monthly, too, right?) NOT a cohesive singular narrative that is "work in progress".
