Out of the list, I think Togashi has a big chance of winning. Whatever he has written in HxH so far is still top notch.

But he isn't active so a few points lost here.
What's your top 5 Kagu?

Not much, I would probably add Urasawa to my list but I still didn't have time to finish Monster...
Monster is a masterpiece and Urasawa is definitely amongst the best.

That last months I've been focused much more on literature than mangas ;)
Oh that's nice. LoTR was it, right?

Yeah, I finished Kingkiller's Chronicle(now I'm waiting the third book, hopefully will be released this year). Now i'm reading LoTR, finished Fellowship of the Ring and started The Two Towers. Also ordered Dune's first triology ;)

What I can say, amazing writing with top tier worldbuilding. But let me stop, the thread is about mangas xD

Feel free to talk to me about it in the PM lol. Any type of literature. There's an LoTR TV show coming out this year too.

  • Kentaro Miura (Berserk) really great fight scenes
  • Eiichiro Oda (One Piece) Bad fight scenes even though there have been good fights in the last 20 years manly croc and lucchi
  • Masashi Kishimoto (Naruto) Good fight scenes but most only in the anime Naruto really owes a lot to the animators
  • Gege Akutami (Jujutsu Kaisen) good fights but I haven't read the manga
  • Kohei Horikoshi (My Hero Academia) boring... this anime couldn't keep my attention
  • Yoshihiro Togashi (HxH, Yu Yu Hakusho) haven't read the manga yet but the fights are godly on par with DBZ and the greats
  • Hiromu Arakawa (FMA) never drew me in
  • Akira Toriyama (DB) the of the best. obviously the quality fluctuated as the anime went on for sales
  • Nobuhiro Watsuki (Rurouni Kenshin) great interesting fights and characters
  • Noriaki "Tite" Kubo (Bleach) hit or miss
  • Makoto Yukimura (Vinland Saga) pretty damn good and entertaining
  • Rumiko Takahashi (Inuyasha) interesting
  • Hirohiko Araki (JoJo) entertaining hyped up by a good story
  • George Morikawa (Hajime no Ippo) great fights but it's pretty silly the lack of competitive black boxers.

Top tier: Miura, Togashi, Arakawa, Fujimoto, Yukimura, Hara, Sorachi, Araki, One/Murata.

High tier: Obata, Akutami, Gotouge, Aoyama, Watsuki, Kubo, Toboso, Takahashi, Morikawa.

Mid tier: Oda, Kishimoto, Horikoshi, Tabata, Toriyama.

Undecided: Urasawa, Inoue. Never seen Monster or 20th Century Boys but I guess Urasawa can be high or even top tier mangaka. Only read a bit of Vagabond and Slam Dunk but Inoue is probably a top tier author.

Many favorites of mine are listed, but some storytellers are better than others, and I will acknowledge those that I think are on top of the game and have the most fleshed out stories and characters, not just "action".

Berserk isn't my cup of tea, but I acknowledge Kentaro's (rip) genius, even though it's on the disturbing side.

Oda is a great story teller that can make you laugh one second and cry the next. Okay, he drags things out too long sometimes, but he has created a vast and interesting adventure that has maintained momentum for decades. That is an amazing feat.

Kishimoto & Kubo both created 2 of the big 3, and expanded Manga's popularity in the west. Naruto & Bleach had their problems at the end, but are still worth reading and still fan favorites that set the bar high for other Mangaka.

Togashi is a genius with his imagination and story telling. HxH is still popular even though it's always on Hiatus status, because we want more of this amazing series.

Gotouge has created one of the single most popular Manga of all time. The way he managed to create interesting and fully fleshed out characters and their backstories is brilliant, not to mention a compelling and satisfying story. Huge respect from me.

Akutami, also came out of nowhere with a brilliant and compelling well written series with lots of great storytelling. Huge respect from me.

I wanna give an honorable mention to Hoshino of D Gray Man. Unfortunately, the series takes a lot of hiatuses. But it is still great storytelling.

Lol of course not. Kishimoto and Togashi easily wins in terms of Shounen mangas. But Isayama wins overall.

I don't like a story where the content is 70% filler... Oda

@Hanners220 you voted for Oda lol? Why?
How do you feel about the current state of OP writing?

lmfao are you trolling me because of my two full analysis threads?
No, I didn't even know you made such threads my man. I remember you had some threads about writing tips in general so I wondered what your opinion on this is. Could you link them for me please?
