I don't know what's so surprising. Denjiro being Kyoshiro was getting increasingly more obvious as the flashback went on. Though I'm glad that point of contention is now dead.
Also, the narration at the end of the chapter stated the story was rushing towards the present, and that's technically true. We see the chapter ends with the Kyoshiro and Hiyori page, with Hiyori as Komurasaki, which is around the timeframe of the current story. That means we might get some insight as to what they've been up to. Maybe it transitions to Kyoshiro in the present, remembering what Oden said now that we know he's Denjiro.
