I really doubt we’re getting three pages of a Kaido flashback or Kaido awakening

We will see ; there is every reason for kaido to show awakening

He is ultimate villain of post skip till now and has everything thing from top tier haki to physical strength to speed

Would be very weird if doffy/Kata has it and kaido doesn't. Also we already have 3 awakenings in wano and Kaido knows about them

Only thing is oda here and who knows what goes on in his brain ; at the end despite logic he may not give kaido awakening

I feel like both Luffy and Kaido are still not fighting 100% serious this chapter. Before the awakening Luffy was 100% serious and desperate but Kaido was still playing with him.

not really... He use hybrid + drunk modes. Yamato confirms that Kaido flame clouds was weakened because he loses power. His last chance is awakening if he have one...

OP volumes these days are rarely more than 10 chapters so this should be the last chapter of vol 103. That being said, it highly depends on the next chapter. It could be extended if Kaido is meant to lose already, though I doubt this.


I've looked at patterns for past villains and many of them lose like 4-6 chapters in the following volume after Oda starts focusing fully on Luffys fight the volume before.

- Crocodile and Enel's last ~ 3-4 chapters into vol 23 and 30 respectively.

- Lucci lasts like 8 chapters into vol 44, so pretty derivative.

- Doflaingo lasts ~5 chapters into volume 79

- Katakuri lasts ~6 chapters into volume 89

- Lesser villains are similar, some a little shorter or 3-4 chapters in a new volume


Not really a pattern per se, but if it's something that's being adhered to for volume structure, I can see Kaido being defeated about halfway into volume 104, or around ch 1049-1051 is my guess.

I'm sure we'll only get this moment once the Vs title is called too. It hasn't been called yet, and I doubt Oda makes Kaido weaker now before it.

We have to remember that fights require a climax. Villains tend to use their strongest attacks or trump cards before losing. This is the case with the 5 previous major villains in the series (Crocodile, Enel, Lucci, Doffy, Kata), and I doubt Oda shortchanges Kaido here.

He HAS to have something up his sleeve, awakening or not.
