30 chapters later and Yamato has yet to retract this statement. The editors even put the panel up on the official volume poster. That same volume spread has her looking forward to Luffy as Ace insisted and she's the only non-SH ally there.

Currently, everything she's guessed about Luffy is being proven right and she has a front row seat to witness it. Momo still has shown 0 interest in asking Yamato to stay, but in the spinoff manga the select Carrot fans are reading, their ship is canon.

I do think that Yamato is guaranteed to join the crew, and is the only viable candidate this arc, but do you guys think that the crew becomes complete after Wano? Or is the luffy's crew still missing something?

While it's not 100% set in stone, it's most likely that there's only 1 spot left. Everything points to 11 being the final count.
  • Luffy said he wanted 10 members. The OP magazine clarifies that he wasn't including himself. (Should be a red flag that they're just now pointing it out)
  • Blackbeard got only 1 extra member after the timeskip to make his main crew count 10. Just like with Luffy, we don't know the 10th member.
  • Wano is being built up as the final arc before the last saga and Jinbe's toast was delayed most likely for the last recruit to be there.
  • Oda's favorite sport that he played growing up and still follows is soccer, which has a team of 11 players.

Yeah, regardless of what Yamato's relationship with Momo is like, I can't completely deny the idea of Yamato getting more emotionally connected with Luffy after seeing him taking down the one who abused her and trapped her in one place for all her life.
I’ve never understood why anyone would think Yamato would decide to stay in a place where she’s been trapped for most of her life, after multiple declarations that she wants to be free and set sail SPECIFICALLY with the guy who is about to defeat her captor/father…but then I remember what the people who advance this argument are like and I suddenly get it :laughmoji:

It seems to mostly stem from the idea that Yamato has been spending more time with Momo than with Zoro and the others, and that Momo is too much of a cowardly manchild to be shogun, with Raizo and the other Wano people not being good enough to bring Momo up as a competent shogun either.

Fair, but Yamato was introduced during a time in the raid when everybody was splitting up…and we’re still very much IN that time period; the arc has been going on for four real-life years, but it’s been, what, an hour or two in the canon since she made her first appearance?? While everyone in the alliance was going in different directions to face off against two Yonkos and their crews?? When exactly was she supposed to interact with the Straw Hats when Luffy himself isn’t?? Also, yeah, Momo’s still a chickenshit, but ALL of his retainers will survive this war - maybe even Kanjuro, who will definitely reform if he makes it through - AND all the previously enslaved samurai we’ve heard so much about will join the ranks, not to mention the fact that Momo himself is now 28 so he’s at least physically grown if not mentally; Wano also isn’t going to be facing any threats STRONGER than the one that’s been persecuting them for two decades, so why would they need MORE help against lesser villains than these?? (I know you’re not actually making this argument, I’m talking to the lowest common denominators)

I think there's a possibility that Luffy gets sick, the rest of the crew decide to prioritize looking for the cure and Law's will look for the last poneglyph in a sort of deal. ofc the SHs will luck into the last one tho lol
There are two stones are still missing, you mean the Kaido's one? Yeah Law might actually find it before the arc ends. But I highly doubt Law will go looking for the last the most important one off-screen on his own. The Red Poneglyphs are too big of a deal, always have been. Unless Oda decides to rush everything towards the end.

I'd be willing to bet that Luffy's probably more concerned with how Kaido feels about all of this than whatever pain Yamao might have gone through.
I don't want to be that person but I found it really weird/funny:
Yamto is bleeding and fell on her knees because her scull apparently croaked from that Kaido's bonk but Luffy didn't give af he was concerned about helping Momo out lol. Anime will probably fix that so it won't look anticlimactic on screen and Luffy would offer her a hug and a cup of tea or some shit (/s) but to me is more important what Oda show us for obvious reasons. Luffy didn't even turned towards to her to acknowledge she is hurt. Weird. Oda had no time for that probably but still he could've squeezed a single sentence at least like "are you good to help that coward out?" or something.
But again I have a list of small nitpicks like that for the entire raid/wano it's not like this is my only one lol

yeah post Wano. SHs might prioritize something else while Law goes looking for them, the SHs will ofc find it and probably call Law to meet up

It's literally to get Law off screen for an arc or so. It's not like he won't be back for laugh tale

he's fighting the WSC. He didn't show much concern for Zoro after he stopped hakai either, Kaido is priority

Means he's not worried about her, she's someone he can trust in doing what needs to be done etc... he doesn't have to constantly babysit.
Unlike a certain Kozuki.
