General & Others Theory on Luffy vs Kaido. Are they wrong?

Luffy will eventually defeat kaido

The alliance as a whole
Even the world government and cipher pol is scared he can pull it off

Are they all wrong to believe luffy will be able to do so? Do they know what their talking about?

They were already wrong!

Its like saying that somebody that thought Zoro could beat Mihawk wasnt wrong when he got his ass whopped during the Baratie fight since he will eventually do so at some point. Everybody that thought Luffy could beat Kaido thought so under the presumption Luffy didnt have Gear 5 and his god fruit upgrade in his back pocket. If Luffy had just eaten the gum-gum fruit? He would be dead right now.

They were all wrong in assuming the Luffy they knew could beat Kaido. He couldn't!

My post is specifically targeted towards characters knowledge and expectations of Luffy and YES they were wrong.

They either overestimated Luffy or underestimated Kaido. Likely both. As for your other points? If you need a literal genetic modification you were previously unaware of to not die (Sanji) or unlock a new mode while also mastering a new ability you did not have mid-fight (Zoro) you were in fact full of shit when you thought you from prior to the fight could win as you were.
