Powers & Abilities General CoA Discussion - Basic & Advanced

1/The black color of haki is a visual cue for the readers to indicate that CoA is used
Nope.

It's only for Hardening it's used as a visual cue.

Many instances where non-shaded Haki is used post-skip.

Bobby Funk explicitly states he used Armament haki, yet his sword isn't Black.

Luffy against Caesar, invisible haki.

Tashigi cut Monet in Fishman Island without Black Armament.

Burgess attempts to stab Sabo who he knows is a Logia, there's no way it wasn't imbued with Haki if he hoped to be successful.

Post skip, it's not shaded when it's the weaker version and it's shaded when it's the stronger version being used.

2/The people in the One Piece world does see CoA as black
Nope.

Franky was present when Lffy used Hardening (Shaded Armament) to punch Surume the Kraken.

2 arcs later, he's surprised Luffy can use Haki.

Clearly, if he saw Luffy's hands were Black on the way to Fishman Island, he'd know that Luffy was a Haki user and not be surprised in Punk Hazard.

So, nope, people cannot see Haki.

It's sensed. It's not literally black, thus why it's said to be: Invisible.

1/There is no such statement by Oda
Again, not really relevant. Oda doesn't need to say things if he implies it. There's enough evidence to see it's true. Only the strongest have access to Shaded armament.

That's a fact.

Name one crew with Haki users, and show me where the strongest wasn't capable of using Shaded Armament. You'll have your work cut out for you.

2/Oda created a character named « Zephyr » this character epithet was « black arm Zephyr » because he was a proefficient koka user. Which means that in-universe people were seeing Zephyr’s arms turn black this his epithet.
Irrelevant, it's a movie.

Same movie, we saw Luffy destroy Kaiorseki.

Even Shiki, 1 of the 3 greats in the last generation had to cut off his legs to escape out of Kairoseki.

Films are films, they're not canon information.

3/Yes when the « knowledgeable about haki Luffy » remind himself about the Camie scene we saw that Rayleigh’s hand is black but it actually prove that the black color is actually a thing because when the « knowledgeable about haki Luffy » remind himself about his fight with Sentomaru or Rayleigh vs Elephant, the black color is not there :

If in one souvenir the hand turn black and in another souvenir the hand stayed white that means that the black color exist in-universe.
Nope.

It doesn't prove it's a thing, it just indicates the level of Armament being used.

Like Rayleigh and Hyo said, it's Invisible which most of you are ignoring because it doesn't align with preconceptions.

Now if you want to entertain the idea that blades are turn permanently black due to the number of fight they have been, be my guest. But that would just means that Mihawk has more fight in his life than :

-All the Sandai Kitestu users combine
-WB
-Roger
-Shanks
-Oden
-Big Mom
-Fujitora

And had as much fight than a guy who was singlehandely protecting an entire island from the world even tho he has been a Shishibukai for a certain numbers of years.
Nope, never said that.

If you read the entirety of what I said, I said the one fact we're told is a lot of battles is one of the prerequisites for the forgery of a Black blade.

We have 1 thing that is definitely a prerequisite and we have various hints. Battles is just 1 fact we know is necessary, but what else besides that? We don't know factually, we just have hints.

1/ Kaido never used it neither in Dragon form nor in human form
Not really relevant.

We haven't seen Kaido go all out.

2/
-Jinbe does not have his hands black when he is using « Vagabond drill »
-Cracker does not have his blade black when he is using « Honey Pretzel »
-Law does not have his blade black when he was attacking Vergo with his blade or when he does « Gamma knife »
-Sabo does not koka on his hand when he is doing « Moeru Ryosoken: Kaen Ryo »
-Big Mom does not have Koka on her blade when she used « Ikoku » or « Hahaba »
-Doflamingo does not have his strings black when he used awakening (the official colour version revealed that the tip of the string are purple)

Not relevant, he used it to defend himself and in the Manga, we don't see the colour of his fist. Fact is Black Shaded Armament is used for the strongest attacks and to defend against powerful attacks.

Big Mom used it only when defending against Luffy's Gear 4th for Example.

Sword users hardly need to use the strongest form of Armament when normal Armament will suffice to get the job done.

Seems you're not aware Haki is finite, therefore, it's used sparingly.

Even Vergo had to protect himself from Tashigi who was significantly weaker by using Black shaded Haki. Blades even with low level Haki can still do significant damage.

-Doflamingo does not have his strings black when he used awakening (the official colour version revealed that the tip of the string are purple)
Actually, you're wrong.

Joker use it for ultimate attacks.

Black shaded armament is always used for ultimate attacks if a character is capable of using it, fact.

As I said saying that koka is stronger than invisible haki is an interpretation.
Nope, it's fact.

Nope.

-It is your interpretation. There is no statement of this in the manga.

-I forgot the world « not ». Furthermore, when Franky saw Luffy using haki for the first time it was against a tangible octopus, when he saw Luffy using haki for against CC it was against a Logia this is surprised. Context matters.

-It is not a fact but your interpretation.

-As I said above, Kaido never used Koka.

-It is not irrelevant. Even tho movies are not canon the background of character like Shiki, Z and Tesoro are canon because they were written by Oda. My information about Zephy came from his background.
But I understand why you are eager to deem it as irrelevant...

-The hierarchy that you made between invisible CoA and Koka is your interpretation, not a fact.

-Which does not contradict what I say. Mihawk was able to attain the prerequisite about the number of fight, therefore he has more fights with than WB.

-It is your interpretation. There is no statement of this in the manga.
Nope, it's not my interpretation, it's the only interpretation.

It's clearly hinted.

-I forgot the world « not ». Furthermore, when Franky saw Luffy using haki for the first time it was against a tangible octopus, when he saw Luffy using haki for against CC it was against a Logia this is surprised. Context matters.
Doesn't matter, he was surprised Luffy was using Haki.

Clearly, if he'd seen Luffy's hand was black, he wouldn't be surprised he was fighting Logias,.

So your argument here is redundant.

-As I said above, Kaido never used Koka.
That's irrelevant, we haven't seen Shanks or Blackbeard use it either because we're yet to see them go all out.

More so, assuming you're aware, Kaido's flesh is as hard as steel, he doesn't need to use it against Luffy at this point who is significantly weaker.

-It is not irrelevant. Even tho movies are not canon the background of character like Shiki, Z and Tesoro are canon because they were written by Oda. My information about Zephy came from his background.
But I understand why you are eager to deem it as irrelevant...
It's irrelevant.

Z and Tesoro aren't canon, lol.

Z is not once mentioned in the main series because he's a film only character.
  • Age 74 - 60 years ago (aged 14 at this time), Z enlisted into the Marines - meaning he was 74 years of age according to arithmetic calculations.
  • Age 18 - he fought his first battle which was 4 years on from enlisting.
  • Age 34 - he mastered Haki.
  • Age 38 - 4 Years on from mastering Haki at age 34, he became an Admiral in Gol D. Roger's era.
  • Age 39 - he married and bore a son 1 year after becoming an Admiral at age 38.
  • Age 42 - 3 years on from both the conception of a family and 1 year of being an Admiral at age 39, they were killed by this 7th Shichibukai Pirate.
  • Age 65 - 23 years on from the death of his family at age 42, he lost his division and his arm was severed by a Pirate with DF abilities.
  • Age 70 - 5 years on from the death of his division and severed arm at age 65, he received a mechanical arm and started hunting down Pirates with abilities.
  • Age 73 - a year before he was 74 (the first year after the time-skip/year after war of the best), the 7th Shichibukai was enlisted.
  • Age 72 - a year before he was 73 is when the war of the best took place.
  • Age 74 - the end of the time-skip, or the present.
Zephyr was said to believe in justice more than any other marine:
  • Yet he didn't show up at the war of the best at aged 72 even though he had an arm he was using to hunt down Pirates meaning he was a very capable fighter and asset.
  • The movie said he fought against Whitebeard & Roger, yet this man who believes so strong in justice didn't turn up when Whitebeard challenged the WG (the institution which he believes upholds the justice he believes in); would be like Akainu not turning up to the war against Whitebeard despite his sense of justice. He was also still very capable of fighting.
  • His wife and family were killed by a Pirate who had a strong grudge against Zephyr (the apparent 7th Shichibukai who also looks nothing like Weevil)
  • What's even more weird is the fact that Coby and Helmeppo are asking who Zephyr is despite having being in the Marines while Zephyr was a part of it. He trained all the Marines, they should have known who Zephyr was, and more so that they're actually pretty high ranked; they'd have been educated about him like everyone is about Garp due to an inspiring legacy that was still currently on-going.
Not canon at all mate.

-The hierarchy that you made between invisible CoA and Koka is your interpretation, not a fact.
It is a fact which is why all the strongest use it for their ultimate attacks - you can't refute this point.
  • Joker uses it for 16 bullets or God Thread.
  • Luffy uses it for his King Kong Gun and Ultimates.
  • Kakuri uses it for his ultimates.
  • Chinjao does.
  • Sai does.
  • Zoro does.
You don't have sound argument to refute this point, it's fact.

-Which does not contradict what I say. Mihawk was able to attain the prerequisite about the number of fight, therefore he has more fights with than WB.
Wrong.

It just says he had many battles.

Doesn't tell us how many battles and what else is necessary to create a black blade.

Actually, you're wrong.

Joker use it for ultimate attacks.

Black shaded armament is always used for ultimate attacks if a character is capable of using it, fact.

Nope, it's fact.

-We saw him fight and used attack in both form and he never koka even to one shot Luffy or to block all of G4 attack

-Why changing the goal post? You asked me to show you character who can use koka but did not used it for their strongest attack, I provided the said characters. But now it is not relevant? Let me guess everything that goes against your point is irrelevant?

-We can see Jinbe using « Vagabond Drill » in Fishman island and his hand is not black

-If Big Mom only used it to defend herself that means that she does not use it for her strongest attack which prove your point to be wrong.

-If Sword users do not need to use koka to have the job done that means that they do not always used it for their strongest attack which prove your point to be wrong.

-And about Sabo?

-As I said the official colored version shown that the tip of the strings are purple :

-You yourself just prove that is not the case with the swordsmen and Big Mom. And I proved it with Doflamingo, so, no it is not a fact.

-You yourself just prove that is not the case with the swordsmen and Big Mom. And I proved it with Doflamingo, so, no it is not a fact.
Nope, you proved nothing.

All characters capable of using it use it for ultimate attacks.

Big Mom has not used any ultimate attacks and no Swordsman has used an ultimate attack other than Zoro.

Nope, it's not my interpretation, it's the only interpretation.

It's clearly hinted.

So your argument here is redundant.
To be precise, it is the only interpretation you decided to beleive in. But it does not change the fact that it is just an interpretation.

It actually matters because it explained his surprise. Your point would stand if he had ever seen Luffy used CoA against a logia before but it is not the case.

-We saw him fight and used attack in both form and he never koka even to one shot Luffy or to block all of G4 attack

Yep, because if you recall, Kaido is the most powerful creature because he has a body that's so powerful that even blades can't penetrate it. Luffy's attacks simply aren't strong enough to hurt him significantly.

Entire reason he was introduced dropping from 10,000 miles and only incurring a headache is because his body is extremely durable.

Entire reason his introduction states:
  • He was stabbed, spears broke.
  • Hung, chains broke.
  • Put under guillotine, blades broke
.... is because his body is unlike anything in this world, incredibly durable.

-Why changing the goal post? You asked me to show you character who can use koka but did not used it for their strongest attack, I provided the said characters. But now it is not relevant? Let me guess everything that goes against your point is irrelevant?
Kaido hasn't used his ultiamte attack.

Neither has Big Mom.

Luffy's not strong enough to make them do such a thing, lol.

-If Sword users do not need to use koka to have the job done that means that they do not always used it for their strongest attack which prove your point to be wrong.
Context bud. Cracker wasn't using an ultimate attack on Luffy, he was simply attempting to stab him because he looked like he'd be easily beaten when he became fat. Read the fight again.

Not used his ultimate attack, bud.

-As I said the official colored version shown that the tip of the strings are purple :
Irrelevant, that's Haki.

It's simply coloured to make it look good.

To be precise, it is the only interpretation you decided to beleive in. But it does not change the fact that it is just an interpretation.
Doesn't mean it's not true or it's not fact.

It can't be disproved. There's far too much consistency.

It actually matters because it explained his surprise. Your point would stand if he had ever seen Luffy used CoA against a logia before but it is not the case.
Nope, it doesn't explain his surprise.

The moment I saw Luffy using Haki on the way to Fishman Island, there's not 1 person that didn't know Luffy could now fight Logias. That's a fact.

The fact Franky didn't know means he never saw a black fist and it means he didn't know Luffy was a haki user. Once you know someone is capable of using Haki, you instanatly know they're capable of handling Logias.

You can't be surprised by knowledge you're already privy to.

That's irrelevant, we haven't seen Shanks or Blackbeard use it either because we're yet to see them go all out.

More so, assuming you're aware, Kaido's flesh is as hard as steel, he doesn't need to use it against Luffy at this point who is significantly weaker.

Wrong.

It just says he had many battles.

Doesn't tell us how many battles and what else is necessary to create a black blade.
-And? You ask me to show you a leader with no koka, I showed you one. Why always change the goal post?

-Ok i accepted your concession.

-Z is canon, he appeared in the color page with reuniting all the canon one piece character at that time.

-Z was not at the war because he was not asked to be at the war. Like Vergo. Except if you think that Vergo is not canon.
The pirate in the picture is not suppose to be the said Shishibukai. The saus Shishibukai is not shown at all.

-You yourself admit that every characters who know koka do not always used it with their strongest attack I.e Big Mom and the swordsmen.
I refute it and provide factual elements you even explain why swordsmen do not always use it. Are you forgetting what you were saying?

-It still means that Mihawk has more battle than WB.

-And? You ask me to show you a leader with no koka, I showed you one. Why always change the goal post?
Wrong.

I said show me a crew with Haki users where the subordinates use Black shaded, but the leader doesn't in essence?

You can't show me because only the strongest possess it bud.

-Z is canon, he appeared in the color page with reuniting all the canon one piece character at that time.
Nope, not canon.

Might have featured in the lead up to the film, but he's no in the Manga bud, lol.

Nope, you proved nothing.

All characters capable of using it use it for ultimate attacks.

Big Mom has not used any ultimate attacks and no Swordsman has used an ultimate attack other than Zoro.
-You yourself explain why Big Mom or the swordsmen do not use CoA on they strongest attack, lol.

-So if « Ikoku » or « Hahabaare not Big Mom strongest attack, what is?

-So « Honey pretzel » is not Cracker strongest attack?

-What about Jinbe and Sabo and Doflamingo ?

-Z was not at the war because he was not asked to be at the war. Like Vergo. Except if you think that Vergo is not canon.
The pirate in the picture is not suppose to be the said Shishibukai. The saus Shishibukai is not shown at all.
Lol sure bud.

The person who hated Pirates the most and was looked up to by every marine wasn't at the war? Absurd mate.

No mention of him by Roger. It's only Garp and Sengoku.

The pirate in the picture is not suppose to be the said Shishibukai. The saus Shishibukai is not shown at all.
That picture is from the movie mate, that is the 7th Shichbkai that cut of Z's arms, lol. Please, go watch the film again. I think you've forgotten.

-It still means that Mihawk has more battle that WB.
Nope it doesn't.

We're not told everything required or the combination of things required. All we know is he fought a lot of battles.

-You yourself admit that every characters who know koka do not always used it with their strongest attack
That's a lie.

You're making things up.

I said every character capable of using Hardening uses it for their strongest attack.

We haven't seen Big Mom or Kaido going all out.

We've seen:
  • Joker go all out.
  • Katakuri go all out.
  • Chinjao go all out.
  • Vergo go all out.
All used it for their strongest attacks bud.

We're yet to see Big Mom or Kaido go all out.

-You yourself explain why Big Mom or the swordsmen do not use CoA on they strongest attack, lol.
We've not had Luffy go all out against a Swordsman.

Think anyone that has been reading this Manga for any amount of time should know that simple fact.

We've seen no Swordsmen use ultimate attacks other than Zoro.

-So if « Ikoku » or « Hahabaare not Big Mom strongest attack, what is?
That's like you asking me what is Shanks' strongest attack.

As if Oda is going to showcase everything a character is capable of when they've not yet had their final battle against Luffy?

Unless you're new to the series, these are not really relevant questions, lol.

-So « Honey pretzel » is not Cracker strongest attack?
Obviously isn't.

-What about Jinbe and Sabo and Doflamingo ?
We already saw Joker use his ultimate attack with Shaded Haki bud.

Not used his ultimate attack, bud.

Irrelevant, that's Haki.

It's simply coloured to make it look good.
-Why did he not used it to protect himself from Oden?

-Yeah si you do not know if he use koka for his strongest attack therefore your point is moot.

-What is Big Mom strongest attack?

‘-You yourself said that Big Mom koka to protect herself from G4 and now Luffy is not strong enough to be attack with it?

-So what it Cracker ultimate attack?

-What is Sabo ultimate attack?

-Why the koka coloured in purple in the entire official coloured version is on Doflamingo awakened string?

nik87

Kitetsu Wanker
That is a lie bud, lol.

He never used Haki 😂.

Haki makes:
  • Swords/Things harder
  • and ability to make contact with Logias.
None of that happened in Alabasta 😅.
Lol, it is a fact mate, not a lie.
Haki flow creates an external coating, that's how he didnt cut tree leaves.
No need for mental gymnastics.

Doesn't mean it's not true or it's not fact.

It can't be disproved. There's far too much consistency.

-It can be true as it can be false because it is an interpretation. No it cannot be a fact.

-Where exactly Franky acquires the knowledge that haki was this effective on logia?

-No you just know that they can use haki.

-He did not have this knowledge tho.

-Why did he not used it to protect himself from Oden?
No one knows the full detail of the battle.

Haki is also something that is finite assuming you're not aware.

-Yeah si you do not know if he use koka for his strongest attack therefore your point is moot.
Nope, any character capable of Hardening uses it for their ultimate attacks. We have evidence that proves that. You're simply ignoring them.

-What is Big Mom strongest attack?
-So what it Cracker ultimate attack?
-What is Sabo ultimate attack?
An irrelevant question.

No one knows.

-Why the koka coloured in purple in the entire official coloured version is on Doflamingo awakened string?
Obviously to make it look appealing.

Nonetheless, the fact is all characters that we've seen go all out and were capable of hardening used it for their ultimate attacks:
  • Joker
  • Katakuri
  • Luffy
  • Zoro
  • Vergo
  • Pica
  • Chinjao
  • Sai
It's a matter of being in denial to deny the facts.

Wrong.

I said show me a crew with Haki users where the subordinates use Black shaded, but the leader doesn't in essence?

You can't show me because only the strongest possess it bud.

Nope, not canon.

Might have featured in the lead up to the film, but he's no in the Manga bud, lol.
-And i answered Kaido.

-He is canon because he appeared in a color page with all the canon character at that time.
