General & Others General Anime Thread

I cant comment on that tbh. I watched it yeeaaars ago. All i can say from this trailer is that it looks very uninspired and... frankly lame
Honestly, I would not mind a full on Ishitani cinema movie even if it meant she didn't direct many more tv episodes. That would be nutty. 90 minutes of Ishitani directed goodness would be insane.

Ishitani is definitely the strongest semi casual director on the show right now, but she's hardly the only capable director(and her episodes are partially so good because exceptions are made to give her the resources to make her episodes so good).

I'm not interested in an Ishitani Filler Movie. Keep her on the god damn show where she can actually make an impact. No one gives a shit about the movies. The series and canon content is what should be given the most care and treatment.
I'm already upset that Komaki left which caused a big decline in quality

Komaki is definitely a director whose presence benefitted the series since she did produce consistently strong episodes, even when justr contributing to the storyboard.

I like the movies as side content, and I don't mind a genuinely creative flick which allows the series to genuinely flex some creative muscle(though I agree they shouldn't be the focus of the franchise).

As long as we don't get a MHA situation where the Movies gradually over time stole the entire TV Staff.

That was genuinely pretty sad.

I'm glad One Piece stopped doing the unpopular specials. They really weren't benefitting the production and just weren't that good anyway.
libo still coping somewhere in the corner that S5 was good.
Are we sure they completly stopped the specials? Like, did someone mention theyve made a conscious decision to stop the TV Specials? or have they just done none recently?

The last special was episode of Skypiea which was released in 2018, so I think that they've been gutted for now.

Season 5 was good...at the start. For the arc no one liked. Thats where the main focus of the season production wise was placed. On the arc that western fans despised.

If it had maintained the quality it had for the Joint Training arc throughout the entire season, it would have been considered a pretty strong season. Not season 2 levels, but still in generally keeping with the overall quality of the series and a step up from season 4.

But that didn't happen.

Yeah. That's what really upset me. Focusing the resources on the arguably worst and most uninteresting arc in most readers eyes and completly messing up the one people were looking forward to.

Since you guys are talking about the anime a lot.
Do you know what the hack did to make toei be more than 1 month without One piece?

Did he like...deleted some work done? Some Episodes?

I ask that cause i fear he did It and rooftop wont get amazing as It suposed to be cause of that and they didint had the time to make the scenes how they were before ....

I know next episode will be amazing, the cast for it is amazing and the preview looks amazing. BUT.....

Im afraid for the next ones, for the hack problem and for the cast that are not that good for episodes like that....theres no excuse to make ALL the rooftop segment movie quality. Especially 1016 on, where the fight really starts.

With the preview for 1016 we Will have a clear Idea.

Seething right now.

Well, I'm just hoping they manage to nail the early parts of the war at least. At least hoping for a decent first cour. The second cour can be a bit more unfocused(I reckon it probably will be).

It was a ransom ware hack. From my understanding they had to shut down the company servers, which prevented staff from accessing resources for the episodes easily. They did have back ups and other avenues, but from my understanding, it just generally slowed the production pipeline down since they had to access their work through other channels.

From my understanding they didn't lose footage, it just slowed down their ability to make the finished product.

This may cause production pipeline problems down the line, but hopefully the month break mitigated the worst of it.

1016 will probably be a more regular episode. I mean, it'll be a Koyama episode(Koyama is a really good director), so it'll probably be good. I don't think they'd skimp out on action animators for an important action episode, but it'll be a step down from Ishitani.

Even though he has the same animation director pairing as episode 984, which was his weakest episode in recent memory, I think his episode here is going to be better because it is just a far more high priority episode.

id say keep your expectations low for 1016 and high for 1017 or 1018. Whichever has tu and henry on it

Episode 1016 will probably end on Kaido smiling, preparing to eat the supernova's attacks.
.
yep 12 pages

1017 end with killer attack
1018 end with luffy out from g4
1019 end with last page of 1003 hybrid kaidu
imagine 3 chapters (1001-1003) being adapted in 6 episodes (1016-1021) ._.
6 episodes lol this is too much

it will be 4 or maximum 4
